About DMS? Department The Department of Management Studies (DMS) invites students with high leadership potential to explore the myriad ways in which the DMS faculties are disseminating knowledge through an academically- rigorous and innovative curriculum to develop future leaders, and managers to address the world’s challenging and dynamic business problems. Innovative thinking and problem solving are the core aspects of the academic program, In the pursuit of preparing the students for facing distinct challenges in a rapidly changing business world, the students are encouraged to engage themselves beyond the classroom to broaden their business perspectives, DMS faculty members explore their research findings on diverse issues on management through publications in peer reviewed international journals and research paper presentations in international conferences in India and abroad to maintain an eminent position in scholarly research. International conferences, workshops and special lectures by distinguished speakers from industry and academia are organized facilitating knowledge sharing on industrial practice and contemporary business issues. Curriculum DMS NIT DGP attempts to follow extensively the pattern followed by best B-Schools. During all four semesters, students go through rigorous class room lectures & presentations to encourage students to apply theoretical learning to real life scenarios in the form of case studies, research, events, live projects and different company analysis. 2|Page

Faculty Members of Department Dr. Mousumi Roy Dr. Avijan Dutta Professor & Head Associate Professor Dr Roy, a University Topper both at the UG and PG levels of a Central Govt. Dr Avijan Dutta is presently a faculty member in the department of University joined NIT Durgapur in 2008. Dr. Roy, currently Professor and head of management studies, National Institute of Technology Durgapur, India. He the department, has been working in Govt. Institutes since 1988. With long 25 has obtained his Post-Graduation in Management from IIM Ahmedabad and years of working experience and exposure to quite a few European Universities, received his PhD degree from Jadavpur University. Dr. Roy has remained active in teaching and collaborative research in the emerging areas of modern Industrial Management encompassing the field of management for He has published several articles in leading Journals. He was awarded with Sustainable Industrialization, Development of sustainable business strategy, the Silver Medal for Best Research Paper at the Association of Indian knowledge management, International business, Managerial Economics and Management School convention held at Hyderabad 2005. He has also the Sustainability management, Her research publications can be found mostly in peer- distinction of securing 2nd place for Best case writing Competition at AIMS reviewed International Journals of reputed publishers like Springer, Elsevier, Western Region conference 2005. He has also conducted training programme Taylor & Francis. in Indian companies of repute like Reliance, Sterilite industries etc. His area of research is Capital market & Investment Management Dr. G. Bandyopadhyay Dr Anupam De Associate Professor Assistant Professor Dr Bandyopadhyay is presently working as an Associate Professor in the Dr De is working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Department of Management Studies, National Institute of Technology Durgapur. He has presents several research papers in the international having a good exposure to the teaching as well as industry. Around seven conferences in India and abroad. He has also authored many research papers in the years of Industrial Experience, mixed with around six years of experience peer reviewed journals of national and international repute. Dr. Bandyopadhyay in teaching in the functional area of finance is a perfect match for a presently guiding a good number of Ph.D students and has already produced Ph.D. faculty member associated with the management education. His research too. activity cannot be ignored too. He has presented several research papers in International conference in India and outside India. Faculty Members of Department Dr.Kaushik Mandal Dr. Durba Pal Assistant Professor Assistant Professor Dr Mandal is presently working as Assistant Professor in Marketing in Dr. Pal is from the domain of Organizational Psychology / Behaviour. She has received her Department of management Studies, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta. Prior to that, she has been associated with IIT Dr. Mandal did his master’s and doctoral work in business administration. He has Kharagpur as a research scholar for a brief stint of one & half year. Dr. Pal has been a published good number of journals articles in peer reviewed journals of national rank-holder (1st class-3rd) in both her B.Sc&M.Sc exams at the University of Calcutta. She and international repute. Areas of his research interest included Distribution has been offered JRFs by DRDO and SAI. Dr. Pal has also been a recipient of a research Channel management, Brand Management and service Marketing. He is actively grant from ICSSR for her doctoral work. Dr. Pal’s area of research include Organizational engaged in entrepreneurial training in the area of marketing. Prior to teaching he Citizenship Behaviour, Positive Organizational Behaviour, Motivational Strategies, has also served the industry as an executive. Employee Engagement, Emotional Intelligence at Work. She has published her research in different peer-reviewed journals of repute, as well as participated in a number of Dr. N. Banerjee conferences and workshops. Assistant Professor Dr. Amlan Ghosh Dr. Banerjee secured the first position in the University in the MBA Examination for which he received a gold medal from the university. He also Assistant Professor secured the second position in the university in the B.Sc. Examination. Dr. Banerjee research paper has been published in various national and international Dr Amlan Ghosh is presently working as a faculty member in the Department of journals and international conference proceedings. His research interest areas Management Studies, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India. Before include Consumer Behaviour, Advertising, Services Marketing, retail joining NIT Durgapur he served in different business school and University such Management and Ecommerce. He also served as a guest faculty in University of as IBS Hyderabad and Sikkim Central University. He has conducted few FDPs Burdwan. In addition to that he has delivered lectures, as a resource person in a number of EDPs. on “Case Teaching Methodology” in different business schools in India. He has also authored a book on insurance and published his research papers in national Mr. Subhodip Sarkar and international journals. His research interest areas are insurance sector, Assistant Professor pension sector, banking, financial development, financial inclusion, MFIs and Mr. Subhodip Sarkar has graduated in production engineering from Post offices. Jadavpur University. Mr. Sarkar did his masters from IIT Kharagpur in the field of industrial engineering and management.
