Masterton A&P Association Showing Schedule 2022 Equestrian / Horse & Pony / Horse Breeds RULES, REGULATIONS, ENTRIES & FEES Saturday 19th & Sunday 20tht February 2022 Solway Showgrounds, Judds Road, Masterton CHIEF HORSE MARSHALL: Josie Powell-Thomas THE HORSE SECRETARY'S OFFICE: Situated in the main office on the opposite side of the Solway Oval from the Grandstand. RULES: Copies of Rules and Regulations are available on application and all entries are accepted on the clear understanding that the rules will be adhered to. The Judge or person nominated by the Committee may demand the production of performance cards or other proof that the horse/pony is currently registered (when registration is obligatory Rule 30 NZEF). For horse and pony competitions a valid RAS Height Certificate is to be produced when required. CLEAN SPORT: The Rules of the Royal A&P Society New Zealand in regard to Clean Sport apply. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show/Event and that testing of all animals is at the person responsible’s risk. Forbidden Substance - Any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, muscoskeletal or urogenital systems. YELLOW CARD: This Show/Event supports the RAS ‘Yellow Card’ system. A Yellow Card will be issued, In cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behaviour as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rulebook, the RAS affiliated Show/Event/registered Measuring Stand and their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new offences. Full wording of the ‘Yellow Card’ system is available to view on the RAS website – www.ras.org.nz. ARREARS: No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any other Show/Event charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated Show/Event. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction is lifted. SUMMARY OF RAS RESOLUTION PROCESS: the full process can be found on the RAS website www.ras.org.nz. The principle behind the process is to deal with the matter as it comes to hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly by the show. If the matter is in regards to an RAS official, the show forwards it on to the RAS CEO to deal with this in an appropriate manner. PLEASE NOTE: Each Exhibitor must supervise their animals at all times and shall be liable for any hazards created, accidents, illness or damage caused by the actions of themselves or their animals at the Solway Showgrounds. Exhibitors must comply with the appropriate animal legislation and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and any amendments. HORSES OR PONIES LOOSE ON THE GROUNDS WILL BE IMPOUNDED. Masterton A&P Association Showing Schedule 2022 DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE OVALS AND MUST BE ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR: a) In all cases current WorkSafe New Zealand rules prevail. 2015 Royal A&P Society (RAS) Equestrian Rules – Copyright © * updated 2018 – GENERAL RULES Page 3 b) All riders, including harness drivers/with the exclusion of heavy horse (Clydesdale) working classes, competing at RAS affiliated A&P Shows/Events must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else within a Showgrounds or the grounds of an affiliated Event. c) Hats/helmets must conform with one of the current approved safety standards. These standards may be subject to change but the latest list can be found at http://www.ras.org.nz – equestrian. RAS will advise any changes via their website and Facebook. d) All hats/helmets that conform as per c) must be identified by the current tag system implemented by NZPCA, ESNZ and RAS. PROTESTS: Protests must be lodged in writing within 30 minutes of class being completed with a fee of $50.00 which will be refunded only if protest is upheld. ABUSE OF SHOW OFFICIALS WILL RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION, AS WILL PARKING IN NON-DESIGNATED AREAS. CUTTING AND DRESSAGE WHIPS ALLOWED ONLY IN DRESSAGE SECTION. ENTRIES: ENTRIES CLOSE Sunday 13 February 2021: Online Entries available at www.main-events.com THE ASSOCIATION HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY ENTRY. ENTRIES WHICH DO NOT COMPLY AND ARE NOT PAID IN FULL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. MASTERTON A&P ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP FEE: $35.00 LATE ENTRIES / ENTRIES DURING THE SHOW: A late entry is defined as an animal not officially entered in the Show by the closing date specified in the Schedule. Late entries are accepted with a 50% penalty. Competitors will be able to place additional entries during the course of the Show. This will apply only to animals that are already entered/competing at the Show. Additional entries will carry a 50% surcharge on the entry fee, which must be paid at the time the additional entry is made. These entries can only be made at the Secretary's Office up to 1hr preceding the competition. TRANSFERS: Competitors may transfer an entered horse/pony to a different class under the following conditions: Transfer form completed 25% scratching fee will be retained for the class transferring from and normal entry fee for the new class to be paid at the Horse Secretary's office. Transfers must be notified at least one hour before the start of the class you are transferring to. Transferred entries will be the first to jump. Masterton A&P Association Showing Schedule 2022 ENTRY OF SUBSTITUTIONS: Horse/Pony may be substituted only into original class, and must be property of the same person as the original entry. SCRATCHINGS & REFUND OF ENTRY FEES: All fees refunded except compulsory admin fee if notified BEFORE entries close Feb 13th. 50% of Entry Fees may be refunded for scratchings ONLY if notified in writing the day before the class is to be run. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR ANY SUM UNDER $20.00. HEIGHT/PERFORMACE CARDS: Height & registration certificates / performance cards MUST be carried at ALL TIMES and produced on request of the steward or the rider will be disqualified from the competition (Entry fees, prize money and ribbons will be forfeited). STALLIONS: See RAS rules for further information to requirements for Stallions http://www.ras.org.nz/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/RULEBOOK-2016-Final-v3.pdf NOVICE HORSE/PONY: A Novice is a Horse/Pony which is yet to win 6 classes in any division at an A & P Show at the time of this Show. Once a horse/pony has six wins, it is not eligible for Novice Classes. Novices may enter Open classes. A novice horse/pony may be ridden by a rider of any age in Novice Pony Classes only. A Novice Champion may not compete in an Open Championship unless it has qualified through competing in an open class. PLEASE NOTE: If insufficient entries, a class may be cancelled. If the number of entries warrants it, a class may be split. Competitors to keep own list of classes entered. Competitors ONLY in the ring during the Show - Disqualification will occur if this rule is not strictly adhered to. Times and locations in the Catalogue may differ from the Schedule depending upon Entries. R.A.S. LEVY HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN ENTRY FEES. NO PRIZE MONEY however entry fees have been reduced to reflect this. All entry fees are GST inclusive. Refunds $20.00 and over will be paid out by direct credit using details provided through Main-Events after the show. GROUND LEVY: $10.00 per Horse/Pony for Show ADMIN FEE: $5.00 per Horse/Pony for Show. Compulsory and non-refundable. CAMPING: $10 per vehicle SHOWERS: $2 EACH HORSE ACCOMMODATION: Open Yards: $11.00 per horse/pony per day/night Covered Yards & Boxes: $16.00 per horse/pony day/night COVERED HORSE ACCOMMODATION IS 25% OF TOTAL PENS AVAILABLE: Please keep this in mind when ordering as there will be no refunds apart from those covered by the Scratching Clause. All horse accommodation will be allocated as fairly as possible on the basis of distance and early paid entries having preference, but people with large teams will have to be allocated some yards. Riding horse to be judged on Type and Conformation, 60% manners & paces 40%. An exhibit may only be entered in the Show Hack or Riding Horse or Saddle Hunter section.
