We are all living in a unique and challenging era, with problems none of us have previously faced. Never has change occurred so rapidly or been so pervasive. We desire normalcy but are forced to accept adaption. Adaption requires change, but also provides an opportunity for a different perspective. A time to reset, to reflect. A time to heal. Gratitude for all we have, for the privilege of being physicians, for the privilege of being plastic surgeons. As we return to normalcy, the Baker Gordon Symposium on Cosmetic Surgery celebrates its 55th year honoring the legacy of Dr. Thomas J. Baker. In 1967, Dr. Baker, the founder of our meeting, organized the first live surgery symposium in plastic surgery dedicated to physicians committed to aesthetic surgery. Fifty-five years later, the pioneers in cosmetic surgery continue to journey to Miami to educate their colleagues and influence how aesthetic surgery is practiced. The theme of this year’s meeting is 55 YEARS OF GRATITUDE: THE PRIVILEGE OF RECOGNIZING INNOVATORS AND ARTISTS IN AESTHETIC SURGERY. As a consequence of the pandemic, we have witnessed a proliferation of web-based learning, but in our opinion, there is no substitute for a live educational forum. As Dr. Baker recognized long ago, there is no better method to clarify the nuances of technical procedures than live surgery demonstrations, allowing for a direct interchange between surgeons and attendees. It is our hope that the 55th Baker Gordon Symposium continues this tradition of excellence in aesthetic surgery education. The focus of our meeting will include live surgery demonstrations and interactive videos illustrating Techniques in Face Lifting with Subplatysmal Cervical Contouring, Methods to Shape the Lower Eyelid, Technical Advances in Gluteal Augmentation, Long Term Results in Mastopexy/Augmentation and Contrasting Techniques in Open vs. Preservation Rhinoplasty. An update on advances in cosmetic medicine and non-invasive devices, including live patient demonstrations, will be presented. To celebrate the 55th Baker Gordon Symposium, we are also including a virtual component to our meeting. This will allow the inclusion of a global faculty from The United States, Europe and South America, to provide a regional perspective in aesthetic surgical procedures. The Keynote Speaker for the 55th Baker Gordon Symposium is Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez, Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at New York University and a pioneer in facial transplantation. His keynote lecture will focus on the blending of aesthetic concepts in reconstructive surgery, improving both functional, as well as aesthetic outcomes for our patients. Recognizing the challenges we face, we want to assure all our attendees that your safety is our paramount concern. As the meeting date draws closer, and the challenges for that specific time become apparent, we will adapt our meeting to any changes or requirements to ensure everyone’s well being. It would be our privilege to host you once again. THIS COURSE IS AVAILABLE TO PLASTIC SURGEONS AND THEIR RESIDENTS Limited Registration Accreditation/Designation This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc.
