Haiku Flooding update • So far, assessment includes 17 homes with damages ranging from minor to destroyed • Majority of property damage was above the Kaupakalua dam • Flash flood watch remains in effect through 6 a.m. Saturday

Landfill Tipping Fee Waiver • A temporary tipping fee waiver is being allowed for Haiku residents who have accumulated mixed debris because of the Kaupakalua Dam overflow and heavy rains •Landfill waivers will be allowed at the Central Maui Landfill only
Landfill Tipping Fee Waiver • The weeklong waiver period begins at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 13, and runs through 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20 • Those seeking a waiver must fill out a waiver request available through the Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division
Flooding Road Closure Update • Awalau Road has been cleared, but it remains closed for safety reasons •Motorists may drive onto Awalau Road from Kaupakalua Road to 311 Awalau Road, but the road closure begins at that point •Peahi Road. Road is closed on both side of the bridge between Aloha Aina Place and 525 Peahi Road

Vaccine Update •Hawaii DOH has announced vaccines for those age 65 + and/or in Phase1c (essential workers with public contact) may be vaccinated beginning on Monday, March 15 •This is a major step in getting more vaccines in arms throughout Hawaii
Mobile Medical Educational Unit blessing • A blessing of the Mobile Medical Educational Unit was held today at the Kihei Police Station • Education is offered through presentations, preparedness exercises, community meetings and coordinated outreach • Educational efforts are aimed at addressing issues such as mental illness, emergency preparedness and homelessness
Mobile Medical Educational Unit blessing • The mobile unit is housed in a refurbished 2007 Eldorado bus with wheelchair accessibility that was provided by the County Department of Transportation • The unit will be located in Kahului, Kihei and Lahaina for a month at a time
