WELCOME TO RITUA My grandmother threw salt over her shoulder to appease the spirits. To a house spider she would extend her nger and let it crawl aboard, then circle it around her head three times before setting it free outdoors—the money spider, harbinger of good fortune. She lived in a very real state of prosperity without ever seeming to struggle for it I was blessed with extraordinary time in England with my grandmother while growing up. From her I absorbed an understanding and respect for both the natural and ethereal worlds She shared magic without calling it magic Fast forward to my life now. As a woman whose children are grown, I can see the breadth and beauty of those early days of discovery, and how they opened a door to my life’s work. What I’ve learned is this We can, each one of us, be the originator of our own magic It can be simple and natural. We can settle our hearts into a moment, gather in around our lives all the things we hold dear, and learn more about the world and its marvels. In this way we can cultivate light, and subsequently, love So dive in. Explore! The world is full of beautiful rituals and magic. At the center of each is a path to your own awareness. Please enjoy the journey All my love, always Kim Sorde Proprietress, Magic Fairy Candle n . . s L fi . . . . . .
BOX CONTENTS | PHASES OF THE MOO NEW MOON SALT SOAK with QUART Cotton satchel containing the dried leaves of abre camino; dried rose petals; dried and grated High John the Conquerer root; Himalayan and Dead Sea salt; all potently charged by a quartz crystal. Place in warm bathwater with a gentle swish. Plunge your body into a thoughtful stillness as you prepare for a new moon. Close your eyes, giving your intentions time to emerge FULL MOON BATH BOM Preparing the body for release under the light of the full moon is made beautiful through the ritual of a full moon bath. Details for the ritual can be found in the next pages. Made with organic ingredients and a crystal charged under the full moon, dissolve in warm bathwater to relax and prepare the body for any ritual practice. Take care to remove the crystal from the bath before draining WHITE SAGE, SELENITE STONE & LAVENDER BUNDL Sage, from the Latin salvere, means to be saved. Throughout time, humans have been saved by clearing the air with the smoke of burning sage. Oils in the leaves lend antimicrobial properties to the smoke as it wafts A satin spar of selenite has the power to focus one’s intuitive faculties. Because it is self-cleansing, selenite is an indispensable tool for any practitioner. It clears all other stones and crystals by its continual vibration of divine light, and becomes particularly potent after charging it under the light of a full moon. Place selenite among altar items to purify them; use it within your circle to center and drop the mind into the heart for meditation or recitation of af rmations; or, place selenite bedside to encourage intuitive dreaming Lavender stimulates the conscious mind and stabilizes both the body and mind. It has long been associated with love, health, sound sleep, healing, and balance Unbundled, the white sage and lavender may be safely lit and allowed to smolder within a reproof container. Smudging, or wafting the smoke of smoldering herbs or incense, is performed to unseat obstructive energies, making it possible to live with an ease of the heart and a clarity of the mind. Hence, it is an ideal way to prepare for ritual work fi . B . . fi Z . N . . E
NEW MOON SOY CANDL & FULL MOON SOY CANDL After you clean and clear your sacred space, cast a circle, then light your selected candle at the center for the moon cycle you are honoring. You may wish to recite af rmations, write intentions, or meditate directly after lighting. When lit, your candle creates a soy wax pool just three degrees above body temperature which can be massaged into the skin to soothe and moisturize. Made with GMM-free soy wax, it is a pure source of Omega-6 fatty acids and antioxidants which essentially become skin food when used in this manner. The clarity of the new moon is enhanced by its candle’s key notes of rosemary, tea tree, and mint. The power of the full moon is ampli ed by its candle’s key notes of lavender and sage SOAPSTONE OW The haunting call of an owl uttering its lingering hoots from out of the depths of night is something which stays with one’s subconscious. If you are fortunate to live where owls mate or hunt, you may have heard them communicating across roofs and treetops. They are usually calls between mates, signals about possible food sources, or simple love quavers sent to one another. Symbolically, the owl brings us keen sight into what was once hidden. When appearing suddenly in our life, the owl portends death, though not literally—it is very simply alerting you to powerful change on the horizon. Here you are provided the owl as a small emblem of both releasing that which no longer serves you, and powerfully enacting change. Carved from soothing soapstone, you may wish to hold your owl to remind you of your innate vision and to prompt your natural transformations to emerge INCENS Warding off insects, appeasing the gods with pleasing aromas, cleansing or blessing one another or a space—these and numerous other reasons for burning incense have been practiced throughout the centuries. Herein you have been given a selection of incense tested by time and the human heart. Utilize their aromas and purifying natures to enhance your moon ritual, or to make the hours of any given day more mindful and sacred RITUAL BOOKLE Simple and straightforward instruction is provided in this booklet for casting your circle and performing rituals. Some pages contain questions which you can ask yourself as a means of opening the heart to explore fresh awareness. Others introduce activities for ritual celebration or meditation. Over time, you may develop or add your own words and rites to personalize this practice. In fact, the more you add from your own experience, the more powerful ritual becomes fi E L T . fi E E . . .
FULL MOON RITUAL BAT How does one become more aware? Begin by lifting your chin. Raise your eyes to the night sky and see. There is a cycle aligned with the tides and seasons and the body The moon—she offers up her energy through both her radiance and her shadow. How one begins is simply by noticing. Perhaps your ritual is to quietly nod to the changing skies. Perhaps you wish to go deeper, to truly encounter the fullness of the moon Begin where you are. She will meet you there PREPAR In a deliberate and mindful manner, quiet the space where you will be bathing. Lovingly remove and store items which are unneeded, so as not to visually detract from your relaxation. Consider turning off devices, save for music which soothes. At the same time, add ritual items which support your practice—selenite, moonstone, or quartz stones; personal objects of a sacred nature; or items from the natural world which feed your spirit. Make a stack of clean towels available. Turn down or turn off the lighting. Place a lit candle or two nearby. Close the door and draw your bath SHOWER OPTION Adapt this ritual for the shower by placing your bath bomb in a breathable bag like a mesh vegetable bag and hang it under the stream of the shower to wash over you. Or place your bath bomb in your hands or on the oor of the shower to dissolve slowly outside the main stream of water, enjoying its scent and skin softening properties. Allow the water’s ow to be your body’s cue to release all which is unneeded E . S . . H fl . . fl
PLUNG Add your full moon bath bomb to the water while expressing aloud or quietly inward, your thankfulness for this time of self care, healing, and release. Listen and let intuition be your guide. Give yourself what you need. Slow your movements as you disrobe. Pay attention to your body’s in nitely unique form and abilities. Place your clothes gently aside and enter the water slowly, so as to notice every sensation. Listen for every breath lengthening TRANSFOR Let yourself unfold inside the warmth and support of the water. Breathe without consciously changing your breath. Simply open to the air as you inhale, and be willing to let go as you exhale. Move in any way which feels good to you With deep care, honor all the endless ways in which your body has served you throughout your life. With the very same care, acknowledge the challenges you face now or have had to endure in the past. Breathe. And again. And again. Now allow all those thoughts to slow, to settle RELEAS Pay attention to the transformation of your breath and body after you have soaked for some time. Perhaps your heart has calmed. What has been heavy has given over to release. Or maybe emotions moved with the mutability of the water and you found yourself sobbing This too is release. The fullness of the moon ripens threefold—the mind, the body, the heart. In your nal moments of the ritual, let your head rest back as if cradled by the hands of someone you love. Let your arms and legs oat up. Close your eyes and exhale one long, complete, full breath with the intention of letting any last hindrance or grasping go. fi E E . M . fl . fi .
RITUAL & INTENTIONAL MAGI Ritual is a practice. To practice means to perform an activity again and again in order to acquire a skill. For ritual, the skill acquired is awareness What does this give us? We become very present, perhaps more calm, clear about our desires and needs, more able to provide just the right kind of help to others, and more capable of identifying and ful lling our purpose on this earth RITUAL PERFORME The performing of ritual is a deeply human experience. Everyone has rituals— common ones like birthdays, graduations, holidays, marriages, and funerals. We delineate time, making it more meaningful by repetition of yearly or daily rituals. Some center around family tradition, cultural legacy, or spiritual practices. Others are simple, personal actions like preparing a cup of tea with attention and reverence, setting the table a certain way, or getting oneself ready for the day using the same sequence of tasks as the day before. If you feel you don’t know enough to practice ritual, trust yourself. You carry all you need within . D C fi . .
INTENTIONAL MAGI There is magic in every choice you make. Your presence places real power behind all you do. It’s no coincidence that paying attention makes things clear, that belief activates action, that understanding brings light to the unknown or feared In this way, intentional magic is how you live At the heart of intentional magic are three things—personal connection, knowledge, and ritual. To help you discover this in your own life, think about the way your days unfold and ask yourself these questions • What daily ritual of mine just makes things feel right • What natural items am I drawn to and what do I know about them • What rituals (mine or others) have touched me deeply, and why You may wish to take a moment to write down some of your thoughts MAKING MAGI Begin where you are. Celebrate your history and what you know to be true. Listen to what speaks to you. Pay attention to your heart, your breath, your body. Hear the wind, feel the sun, walk barefoot upon the earth. The better you come to know yourself, magic will naturally ow . C C fl ? . . . ? ? .

To cast a circle is to make a sacred vessel to hold your ritual. Guidance is provided here PREPAR Clean your space and cleanse your body with a soothing shower or soak. Consider turning off all devices. Be still and remember your intention. Choose a location either indoors or out. Protect our Earth by following local guidelines regarding outdoor ames. You may wish to use a compass to locate and mark the directions of north, south, east, and west with a ston or crystal. Walk your circle clockwise and smudge its entirety with sage or incense. Light your candle at the center E E fl . N . e

PERFORM YOUR RITUA With your circle cast and a sacredness held within your heart, read or recite the words for a ritual of your choosing. This is your moment, take your time. Repeat words of intention, release, or af rmation as many times as necessary in order for you to feel the gravity of those words within your body In order to bring about change one must feel it fully We build energy and make solid change as we continually return to the practice. You may suddenly voice your own words for casting the circle, invoking the seven directions, or performing a ritual. Use them to connect more profoundly to your own awareness and heart Special rituals are offered in this booklet as a place to begin CLOS To close your circle, release the elements and seven directions by speaking a simple phrase of dispersal and gratitude of your own choosing, or something like this “The elements, seven directions, and energies of all, I thank you for your presence here and release you. Extinguish your candle, collect your markers for the directions as you walk your circle once more. With reverence and gratitude, walk out and go forth Blessed Be — E . . ” L fi , . . . .

NEW MOON | INTENTION RITUA Auspicious change making of consummate ful llments. The word wish, even as it is formed by the mouth, wafts as a whisper. It is made of breath, lighter than air. RITUA A new moon is the most bene cial time for discovering regeneration in one’s life. Without expectation, meet your desire in a place of openness and write it down. Under a new moon, this written remnant can be kept on your altar or by your bedside until the next full moon. Or you may wish to plant your intention in the earth for nurturance and growth by burying your paper in a garden. To send your intentions out onto the wind, you may wish to ignite the paper in a safe manner, to burn and transform the material and send your words into the ether. Let your intuition be your guide. The choice is entirely yours AFFIRMATIO May I be happy, content, and ful lled. May I be healed and whole. May I be protected from harm and free from fear. May I enjoy inner peace and ease. May I be awakened, liberated, and free. May there be peace in this world and throughout the entire universe. L N fi fi .

NAMING THE MOON Naming the full moons of each month began so very long ago among all cultures across the world. Here in North America, we look to our Native Americans’ lore as well as habits of early settlers, for the names which endure as a legacy of humans marking seasonal change by the cycle of our beloved moon You may wish to honor the symbolism of the name for the month in which you are holding your ritual. JANUARY JULY WOLF BUCK FEBRUARY AUGUST SNOW STURGEON MARCH SEPTEMBER WORM CORN APRIL OCTOBER PINK HUNTER’S MAY NOVEMBER FLOWER BEAVER JUNE DECEMBER STRAWBERRY COLD S .
SPECIAL MOON HARVEST MOON The full moon closest to the autumnal equinox is renamed the Harvest Moon. This means the Harvest Moon is not always in September. Sometimes it falls in October instead. BLUE MOON A 13th full moon in a year is called a Blue Moon. The name has nothing to do with the color of the moon. Though, under a smoky or hazy sky, the moon can appear blue to the eye SUPER MOON When the moon’s orbit is nearest to the earth it is in perigee. When a full or new moon coincides with perigee, it is a super moon. A full super moon appears larger to our eyes, though the moon never actually changes size. It is simply closer to us LUNAR ECLIPSE or BLOOD MOO When the Sun, Earth, & Moon are in syzygy, or in other words, very closely aligned, & the moon passes behind Earth, the earth’s shadow falls across the moon, eclipsing it. Only re ected light reaches the moon in this instance, making it appear as a dim reddish sphere. Hence the name, Blood Moon . . S fl N .
