Message from the President Dear Friends, For over 119 years, members of our community have relied on the staff at Frederick Health to provide care and comfort during their time of need. This has never been more evident than in the past year, as the people of Frederick trusted us to lead the way through the COVID-19 crisis. Driven by our mission to positively impact the well-being of every individual in our community, we have done just that, and I could not be more proud of our healthcare team. Over the past year, all of us at Frederick Health have been challenged in ways we never have been before, but we continue to serve the sick and injured as we always have—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Even beyond our normal scope of caring for patients, our teams also have undertaken other major responsibilities, including large scale COVID-19 testing and vaccination distribution. As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 crisis, we also look to the future. Our experience with the pandemic has underscored the responsibility Frederick Health bears in caring for our community during times of urgent and critical need. This is the reason for the $45.8 million critical care renovation and expansion project underway on our 7th Street campus. I am grateful for those who have generously contributed nearly $6 million toward this project by supporting the ReEnvisioning Critical Care campaign. I am happy to share that we are well on our way to reaching our fundraising goal of $14.75 million. I invite you to read more about the project on the following pages. While we cannot predict what challenges may lie ahead, we do know that with your support, Frederick Health will stand ready to meet the ever-changing healthcare needs of our community—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Thank you for your support of Frederick Health and the community we are privileged to serve. BEST REGARDS, Thomas A. Kleinhanzl, President & CEO Frederick Health FrederickHealth.org/Donate 1

A Tradition of Generosity There’s nothing more worthy than passing down to your children a sense of stewardship, generosity, and benevolence. The Ramsburg family knows this best. Charitable giving in the Ramsburg family dates back generations, starting with JR Ramsburg and his wife, Norma. JR was born and raised in Frederick, so when the couple wed in 1960, the two decided it was the best possible place to plant their roots. “Frederick has always been home and always will be,” said JR. “Even my grandparents were born here in the late 1800s.” JR’s mother was a kind and compassionate nurse, something he always admired and respected. His father was a public servant for much of his life, first serving in the Maryland State Legislature and then serving as Mayor of Frederick from 1958–1962. The importance of his parents’ work is something JR has carried with him throughout his life. It was because of his upbringing that he knew the value of serving THREE GENERATIONS OF GIVING the community in which you live. He became involved Justin Ramsburg, J.R. & Norma Ramsburg, and Ray & Holly Ramsburg with the hospital early on and he and Norma have (Not pictured: Katherine Ramsburg) been members of the hospital’s cornerstone giving club, the Order of the Good Samaritan, since 1990. A Gift Worth Passing Down
