2023 Maine Camp Directory Dear Future Campers (and camp parents and guardians who may choose to read this…), The directory you hold in your hands is in one sense, a straightforward list of contact information and website details for Maine Summer Camps’ 150+ member camps. These camps come in all shapes and sizes, and whatever your age, interest, or budget, there is a camp for you. In another sense though, this directory is a map to a fantastic adventure: a key to open the door to a whole new world of friendships; an instruction manual to learning wonderful new skills; and a mirror that will help you see yourself in new and inspiring ways. Maine camps have always been places where young people from across the state, country, and world have gathered to share new experiences and grow in every positive way imaginable. For over a century, parents have sent their campers to Maine to undertake adventure, meet new friends and role models, learn new skills without stress or schedule, learn how to be away from home, and in the process learn about who they are and who they want to become. It’s not just the lakes, mountains, oceans, rivers and endless forests that make Maine camps special. It is the culture of support, growth, and positive change that have always set, and continue to elevate Maine camps to a whole other level. This guide you hold in your hands is more than just a list of names and numbers. It is the introduction to a world of communities, connections, and activities that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. We know it requires a great deal of courage to head off and spend a summer at a new place, but you should feel great about taking that bold leap, because there is a very good chance it will be the best thing you ever did. Good luck, enjoy discovering your new camp, and please call the MSC office with any questions. See you in Maine. WHY A MAINE SUMMER CAMP? There’s no place quite like Maine For more than 100 years, families have come to appreciate Maine’s summer camps as a haven for kids to experience natural beauty and old-fashioned values. Maine is more than a place—it’s a feeling you get as soon as you arrive. Suddenly, the air’s a little fresher, the pines taller, the lakes clearer. You can hear the essence of Maine in the cry of a loon, taste it in a fresh-caught trout, and watch the sun rise a little earlier in Maine than anywhere else in America. Fact is, there’s more of Maine, and more to Maine, than the rest of New England combined: deeper forests, bigger lakes, more rugged mountains, longer rivers and more than 3000 miles of shoreline. Taking fun seriously 0DLQH6XPPHU&DPSVUHÀHFWDOOWKHSRVVLELOLWLHVRI0DLQH7KH\FDQEHDVWUDGLWLRQDODV a canoe trip and as futuristic as rocketry. Among our more than 140 member camps, many help develop skills in sports and outdoor adventure; some teach a musical instrument, others may inspire kids to plant the seeds of the next forest. Whether operating public or private camps, all Maine camp directors take a highly SURIHVVLRQDODSSURDFKWRWKHLUMREV7KH\ZRUNWRIRVWHUJURZWKDQGLQVWLOOWKHWLPHOHVV values of teamwork, responsibility and mutual respect, while always putting your child’s ZHOOEHLQJ¿UVW7KDWPHDQVFDUHIXOO\VFUHHQLQJDQGWUDLQLQJFRXQVHORUVLQVSHFWLQJDQG repairing facilities, and accommodating the varying needs of children.
