(Essays exceeding word limits will not be considered.) Applications that are incomplete or late due to postal delays, transmittal by third parties, or other circumstances will not be considered. Use of Scholarship • The scholarship may only be used on the study tour organised by Headstart Group and the attending school in the school year of 2018-2019. • Awardees are not permitted to defer the Scholarship. FAQ FAQ 1. What guarantees do I have as a client? The study tour is fully endorsed by Headstart Group, a leading name in the education industry in Hong Kong and Macau. Do I receive any information in advance about the accommodation? Yes, Headstart Group will send a homestay profile or details of the residence as part of the confirmation information approximately two weeks prior to departure. 3. How does Headstart Group ensure my child will be happy in their host family? Headstart Group will endeavour to match students with suitable host where applicable, based on their background and age and any special requests that are submitted. 4. What if my child is not happy with their host family or residence? In the unlikely event that a student is not happy with the homestay host or residence, we will speak to the student and group leader to try and understand the reasons behind it. We will then take the appropriate course of action depending on the circumstances. 5. Is it safe for my child to visit central London? Headstart Group strives to ensure that all students are in the safest possible hands. We have been delivering study tour to young people in HK for many years now, and we ensure that full risk assessments are carried out prior to all excursions and activities. 47
6. What happens if my child becomes ill during his stay in the UK? We strongly advise parents to purchase travel insurance that covers medical costs incurred in the UK and Singapore prior to the tour. A travel insurance package is included in every Headstart Group study tour as well. If a student is taken ill in the UK and Singapore, we will do everything in our power to ensure that the student receives medical attention as soon as possible. We have first aid trained staff and will support the group leader in ensuring the student is taken to a local doctor or an Accident and Emergency department at a hospital depending on the circumstances. 7. What about extra expenses? Parents are advised that our tours include all entrance fees and local travels, and that students will only be required to bring pocket money for any souvenirs and snacks. The pocket money should be in cash only. Headstart Group, Stafford House and High Achievers cannot be held responsible for any money lost during the tour. 8. Are students allowed to meet up with families or friends during their free time? Headstart Group offers a full programme of daytime and evening activities outside of lessons. To benefit students fully from this tour, we recommend students to adhere to the programme. Hence, students are not allowed to meet up with their families or friends through the duration of the tour. 9. Are students allowed to stay behind in the location at the end of the tour? All travel arrangements for the tour are pre-scheduled. Students are not allowed to stay behind for any reasons at the end of the tour and are required to return to Hong Kong following the scheduled flight. 10. Can students choose who they stay with in homestay or at the residence? We are happy to receive special requests for either homestay or residence arrangement and this must be specified early during booking but final pairing is subject to availability. In addition, we will also require special dietary requirements and allergy/medication information during booking. 48
