DAIRY CATTLE JUNIOR HANDLER Aim: To encourage young people to take an active interest in animal husbandry and cattle preparation and handling. Then continue through to the Young Handler Competition. Class 2018 Intermediate Section: (10 years and under 15 years) Winner: $10 Runner-up: $5 Class 2019 Junior Section: (Under 10 years of age) Winner: $10 Runner-up: $5 VAS Ltd. DAIRY CATTLE YOUNG PARADER COMPETITION Conditions: It is the responsibility of entrants to obtain the use of an animal being exhibited on the day (Exhibitors are under no obligation to assist potential entrants). The age of the animal is to be between 6 and 22 months. The animal must be broken to lead. The lodging of any entry shall bind the exhibitor or a person or persons taking park in functions on behalf of an exhibitor to the Conditions, Rules and Regulations set out herein and the General Show Regulations. Class 2020 15 years and under 25 years. Prize Money: First, $20.00; Second, $10.00; Third, $5.00 VAS Ltd DAIRY CATTLE JUDGING COMPETITION Conditions: The competition is open to competitors 15 and under 25 years of age, Not less than four animals of one breed are to be judged and placed 1st, 2nd,3rd by the competitor in accordance with the points awarded. The lodging of any entry shall bind the exhibitor or a person or persons taking part in the functions on behalf of an exhibitor to the Rules and Regulations set out herein and the General Show Rules. Class 2025 Junior Under 15 years Class 2026 Senior 15-25 years (VAS Ltd. AFFILIATED) The Winner and Runner up of the Senior Beef Cattle Judging section will automatically become eligible to compete at the Royal Melbourne Show. Winners of VAS competitions at other Shows within past 6 months may compete, but must notify Steward when entering. Not less than four animals of the beef breeds are to be judged and placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd by the competitor in accordance with points awarded. www.vicagshows.com.au Cattle, THE MARTY ALBERNI JUNIOR HERDSPERSON AWARD Trophy kindly donated by: Jeff Tully This award will be judged in conjunction with the Dairy and Beef Cattle Show. The Competition is open to all cattle handlers, under 25 years of age, on the day of the Show. Judges will take into consideration the following: • General enthusiasm and initiative • Presentation of the herdsperson • Presentation of exhibit/s including bedding, Breed promotion etc. • Safety around cattle • Involvement in Junior Handler/Judging Classes. • You do not need to be at the Show with your own cattle. • You can be assisting an owner or be employed by an owner. • Judges will be appointed and will not be made known to you. Prize Money: First: $25, Second: $15, Third: $10 BEEF CATTLE - COMMERCIAL CLASSES The South East On-Farm Challenge is judged in November preceding the Show.
