ANNEX 1: GENERAL INFORMATION Passport, Visas Those from countries within the European Union are recommended to travel with a valid ID. In addition, depending on individuals’ citizenship, a visa may be required. Please make a copy of your passport and visa. Insurance LIVE students are covered by MARSH insurance, paid by the LIVE programme. Please bring with you a copy of your insurance. Scholarship for concerned students The payment of the European scholarship will start to a European bank account after the checking of original papers (Diploma + transcripts + passport) and the official enrolment of the student at UAB-UB. Generally, you receive the installation and travel payment 2 weeks after enrolment. Subsistence payment: there is a checking of the daily student presence in the programme on the 20th of the month so that you can receive your scholarship around the last day of the month, each month. First payment around Sept 30, provided that we timely received your bank identity (French: “relevé d’identité bancaire” or “RIB”; Spanish = “Detalles del banco”) to operate the transfer. --- At UCBL, for the scholarship payments, we need a bank identity issued by the bank. The bank must be registered in one country of the Euro area: 19 countries using Euro as their currency, whatever this is an online bank or a bank with physical counters. Two reasons: UCBL is not allowed to send funding coming from taxes of European citizens outside Europe and you will save money because you will not have to apply an exchange rate upon receipt of payment. Please send you bank identity issued by the bank to mylive@univ- lyon1.fr as soon as possible. Emergency phone number in Spain The general emergency phone number for medical issues/ambulance, fire fighter and police is 112. Closeup view *** How to get from the Airport to the UAB campus and the Vila Universitaria If you arrive by plane: Unless you take a taxi to get from the Barcelona Airport directly to the UAB campus, you will need to get to the city center first. The heart of Barcelona is the Plaza de Catalunya, from which you can take a local train (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya [FGC]) to the UAB. The easiest way to get to the Plaza de Catalunya is to take the Aerobus. The Aerobus service is an express bus service that links Barcelona airport to the city centre. This service normally runs between 5 and 10 minutes within its fixed hours of operation. You can catch the Aerobus from outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The Aerobus stops at different places – make sure to exit at Plaça de Catalunya. A single ticket costs 5.90 €. Depending on the traffic, the ride should take 30 minutes, approximately. Alternative options are the metro or the train. However, if you take the metro (line L9, connected to both terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the airport), you will need to change at the final stop to the line L3 (green line) and take a ride to Plaza de Catalunya. The total trip will take an hour, approximately. From Terminal 2, you can take the train (RENFE), however, you will need to get out at Passeig de Gracia and then walk to Plaza de Catalunya or take the metro (one station). You can also get out at Sants Estació, the main train station of Barcelona. From there, you will need to take the metro (L3, green line, direction Trinitat Nova) to Plaza de Catalunya. Taxi: If you decide to take a taxi directly from the airport or the train station to the UAB campus, be prepared to pay between 45 and 70 Euros, depending on the traffic and time. The price increases between 20:00h and 8:00h, as well as on week-ends. Alternatively, you may choose to take a taxi to the Plaza de Catalunya (25 to 30 Euros), and then take the local train from there to the UAB campus. Supplements are applied to the fare when operating from the airport and the train station as well as for luggage. For further information on taxi fares, you may check the following web pages: https://www.barcelonayellow.com/bcn-transport/100-taxi-prices-barcelona https://taxi.amb.cat/es/usuari/tarifes You will find further information how to get from the Airport to Barcelona city center at the following site: https://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/airport/barcelona-airport-transport.html If you arrive by train: If you arrive by train, you will exit at Sants Estació, the main train station of Barcelona. From there, you will need to take the metro (L3, green line, direction Trinitat Nova) to Plaza de Catalunya. The entrance of the metro station is located within the train station. Look for the metro sign . You can either purchase a one-way metro ticket for one zone (Billet senzill, 2,40 euros) or a multiple ride ticket (T-Casual, 11,35 Euros) for 10 rides, at the entrance of the metro station. You can use the same ticket to get from Plaza de Catalunya to the UAB campus, i.e. it is also valid for the local trains FCG. Once established, you may choose to buy tickets with more rides or unlimited number of rides for a given time period. You will find all information on prices and validity of metro and local train tickets in the following web page: https://www.tmb.cat/en/barcelona-fares-metro-bus To reach the UAB from the Plaza de Catalunya: The connection between the city center and the UAB campus is covered by a regional train line, called FCG (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya). To go to the UAB you must get the S2 or the S6 lines (see map) that part from the Plaza de Catalunya. The access to the subterranean station is located in the Southwest corner of the Plaza de Catalunya, next to the Café Zurich where the Rambla de Catalunya joins the Plaza de Catalunya where you can also get access to the metro. Watch for the signs of the FCG - . Get off at the Bellaterra station (to go to the Vila) or at the Universitat Autònoma station (to go to the UAB center). Tickets can be purchased as explained above at the entrance of the metro station. For more information about this transport service, go to the following link: www.fgc.es To reach the UAB using RENFE trains: You can also use the train services to Cerdanyola Universitat. There is a shuttle bus from there to the UAB campus. This istation is part of line R7 of Rodalies RENFE and it may be useful to you if you decide to live outside Barcelona. Please ask the local coordinator if you have any doubts about traveling to the UAB. LIVE 2021 Integration Week, updated on Aug 29 Page 10 to 17
