Some News, mars 2018 http://www.anpdm.com/newsletterprint/20861196/42405F4378... Letter from the dean New Research Board in Place, Vinnova Invests in Teacher Cooperation The ground may still be frozen outside, but our University is full of life and action! The new Research Board established by the Vice-Chancellor has held its first meeting. Göran Landberg, deputy vice-chancellor in charge of research matters, is chairing the Board and Fredrika Lagergren, deputy vice- chancellor in charge of issues regarding outreach and cooperation, is vice chair. The Research Board is a preparatory and advisory body for the Vice-Chancellor. Its main purpose is to handle strategic research and collaboration matters and thereby promote the development of research of high international quality. Another role of the Board is to stimulate internal and external collaboration and help to make visible the significance and relevance of the research performed at the University. It will promote appropriate and efficient use of research infrastructure through collaboration across faculty and departmental boundaries and through national and international collaboration with other higher education institutions. It feels exciting to be part of the launching of the Research Board and its work. Although it is still early in the year, it is time to plan for next autumn and the spring of 2019. I would like to share some information about a project funded by Vinnova and focusing on stimulating teacher collaboration with non-academic actors. Interaction between the university world and the rest of society creates opportunities for important sharing of knowledge and contributes to new teaching approaches, new research ideas and further development of host organisations by introducing them to new research findings. We are currently finalising the details of the project and will share more information later this spring. The Faculty will most likely accept applications for funding of existing or planned collaborations. Would you like to develop collaboration related to education or research with an organisation outside the University? Then this is a great opportunity! The visit must correspond to 20% part time for six months, but may be designed and planned according to what is appropriate in each individual case. Malin Broberg Pro-Dean 6 av 11 2018-04-04 14:20

Professorship in HRM The Centre for Global Human Resource Management is operated jointly by the Department of Business Administration at the School of Business, Economics and Law and the Department of Sociology and Work Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences. This spring, the Centre will accept applications for a chair in HRM - a decision that not least Volvo and other major companies are happy about. Whether the chair will end up at the School of Business, Economics and Law or the Faculty of Social Sciences will depend on the area of expertise of the person appointed. Events Hosted by the New Research Centres The work at the new research centres hosted by the Faculty - the Centre for Collective Action Research (CeCAR) and the Centre on Global Migration (CGM) - is in full swing. For example, CGM will arrange a workshop and open panel discussion on the theme of religion, multilingualism and history at Frölunda kulturhus 12-13 April. In late March, they will host a conference together with Region Västra Götaland to discuss the impact of a migration background on children's performance in school. Food consumption and the importance of seas and oceans for a sustainable future are some of the topics discussed at seminars organised by CeCAR during the Science Festival. Since its opening in 2015, researchers affiliated with the Centre have published around 30 articles on subjects such as energy efficiency, corruption, the state of our oceans and support for environmental policy. The Department of Psychology had already presented a plan for how to eliminate the deficit by 2020. This plan will be revised. Global Studies and Public Administration will present their plans by the end of April. For Political Science, the deficit is not big enough to necessitate a plan. Overall for education, the Faculty has moved from an accumulated surplus of SEK 30 million a few years ago to SEK 10 million in the annual report for 2017. Nominate Honorary Doctors It's time to turn in nominations for honorary doctorates 2018. Each Faculty can nominate two candidates. The 8 av 11 2018-04-04 14:20
