MAYOR'S MESSAGE Fall is the season of change. We see the change in our environment as the leaves change to gold, red and orange, and we feel the air change to cool and crisp. There is change all around us. Many youth will be starting in-person school again, and November brings election season which inevitably will bring more change to our city and local government. Change is not always easy, but I believe in the end, change is good. I am excited as we continue to embrace new ways to provide excellent service to all members of our community, whether it be in-person, or remotely. We have embraced change not only in the way we serve our customers, but we’ve also changed the programs we provide. While some of you are thrilled to be back in our facilities, we also know that many still prefer virtual classes, or even a combination of both! So, we will continue to offer some virtual and hybrid programming this fall. The use of our parks and trails has steadily increased over the last year so we are happy to announce we are offering weekday park rentals. Details on page 5. Our swim lessons are back in full swing, with slight modifications to the registration process. Our swim instructors are eager to teach the life skill of swimming for all ages. Details on page 7. Who has participated in a drive-thru event? Many of our drive-thru events have been such a success that we are excited to announce a full line-up of fun and engaging drive-thru and curbside events scheduled throughout the fall. Details on page 24. We are thrilled to offer a new series of aquatic fitness classes, finding fun and new ways to get fit for all ages. Details on back page. Change is inevitable, and it is happening all around us. It is my sincere hope that we can all embrace this change, find the good, and in the end, we will be stronger, healthier, and more resilient. Please be well and stay healthy. LYNNWOOD RECREATION GUIDE FALL 2021 Lynnwood Recreation Center: 425-670-5732 3
