UFP: introduction • What it is: a way of dividing a server facing port into multiple logical interfaces – Configured individually on the switch – Discovered at boot time via PCI on supported NICs on a server, and visible to the server OS • eth on Linux, VMnic on Vmware, etc. – Configurable with minimum guaranteed and maximum allowed bandwidth within the capacity of the physical port – Referred to as “UFP vPorts”; up to 8 vPorts per physical port • This has long been available under ENOS; CLI syntax is different under CNOS • Supported on G8272, G8296 (but soon end-of-sales), NE2572, NE1032/T, NE1072T – Not supported on breakout ports – Not yet supported on 25Gb ports (NE2572) • Support incudes “CNA” adapters where one vPort can be seen as FCoE 2019 Lenovo .
