Silver Comet Trail This paved, abandoned railroad bed brings together cyclists, nature lovers, and physical enthusiasts to enjoy our beautiful north Georgia countryside. There is a designated horse riding trail adjacent to the Silver Comet Trail. 3 Facilities, Registration & Website The Trail runs approximately 18 miles through Paulding County. 4 SPECIAL EVENTS Spring Fling at White Oak Park Special Events Celebrate spring with Paulding County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, bring your family, friends and enjoy a spring day with games, kids zone, kite flying, and much more. All ages welcome! Fee: FREE! Time: Saturday, March 26 Festivities 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Location: White Oak Park 298 Mustang Drive Dallas, GA 30132 Touch A Truck Day! Get up close and personal with some of the different varieties of vehicles and equipment used in Paulding County. It is a great opportunity for kids and “kids at heart” to sit in a police car, fire truck or DOT truck. Event will include department of Transportation, Fire, Police and some “special surprises.” You will be able to touch and learn about the vehicle and how they are used. If you are interested in being a vehicle exhibitor, please contact Mt. Tabor Park 770-505-3885. All ages welcome! Fee: FREE! The game jersey is included in registration fee. Teams will be developed at the following parks: Burnt Hickory, Mount Tabor and Taylor Farm. Evaluations will be on Saturday, February 5th (8U Only). SNAG Golf Lessons The golf program at Mount Tabor Park is designed 9 to inspire, educate, and develop young golfers in Youth Athletics a manner that is fun and engaging. Our program utilizes SNAG Golf equipment and follows the SNAG Golf system. Classes are taught by our Program Coordinator, Zac Tubbs, who is a Level 1 Certified SNAG Instructor. Students will learn the fundamentals of golf and will be placed in training environments that encourage problem solving and decision making. This program is an introductory golf course that is structured for beginner skill level and children who are new to golf. 10 Youth General Interest YOUTH GENERAL INTEREST Non–residents of Paulding County will be assessed an additional fee of $16 per participant I Want to Be a Firefighter Has your child ever wondered, “What’s it like to be a firefighter?” In this one–day event, children Age 3–6 years will get firsthand experience on being a firefighter. Children will learn fire safety rules, get to explore a fire truck, and watch firefighters put on gear and much more. We will end the program with snacks with the firefighters. Age: 3 – 6 years Fee: $11 301102– 3: Mount Tabor Park Date: Saturday, May 14 Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Registration: March 14 – May 4 Minimum: 5 Maximum: 20 The Police Officer and Me! The Police Officer is our friend and he/she provides safety and protection to our family and community. Get to hang out with an officer; see what his/her day to day working routine might be. Get a chance to meet and watch the police dog in action. Children will learn some personal safety rules and much more. We will end the program with snacks with the Officers and his K-9. Age: 3 – 6 years Fee: $11 301174–3: Mount Tabor Park Date: Saturday, May 14 Time: 10:00a.m. – 11:30a.m. Registration: March 14 – May 4 Minimum: 5 Maximum: 20 Toddler Arts & Crafts Kids, bring your Mom, Dad, grandparent or caregiver and let’s create a great arts–and–craft project, while spending some quality time together. This class also provides sensory manipulation and gross motor and coordination skills for the child. Each class will feature a new project, with art history education aspects. One parent/caregiver per child enrolled, please. This is sure to be a hands–on, fun–filled class for both! Please Note: Caregiver participation is required. Age: 2 – 5 years with parent (If you wish to enroll more than one child as a paid participant, caregiver must be able to work closely with each child.) Art Lessons This is a group class for beginning to advanced students. One–on–one 11 instruction will be given to ensure each student’s maximum potential. Youth General Interest Various mediums such as watercolors, pastels, and pencil drawings will help bring these personal masterpieces to life. 14 Youth General Interest Uppercut Crew Join us and learn age-appropriate fundamentals of boxing in a controlled environment.
