A place for broadening your horizons E nrichment activities form a key part of each student’s personalised learning pathway. Core areas have been identified to offer an enrichment programme which supports student learning and meets the academy’s aim to ensure that each student learns, grows and prospers. The enrichment programme provides opportunities for students to participate in clubs and partnerships which broaden and enrich their learning and provide physical, social, cultural, creative and charitable experiences and skill development opportunities. W e recognise that every student is different and our personal learning ethos and personalised learning pathways aim to achieve the best outcomes for every student regardless of their starting point, and take into account the student’s skills, talents, interests and aspirations. We aim to ensure that all students develop the skills, knowledge and attributes that they need to flourish in life, learning and work, which will allow them to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. Our students experience a well-balanced and broad curriculum. Students follow individual pathways which lead to enjoyable and life-long learning. These pathways are tailored to the needs and abilities of the individual and give the students numerous opportunities for challenge and success. Key Stage 3 We have introduced an imaginative and progressive curriculum which includes a focus on the acquisition of key learning skills, the use of personalised learning plans and the active engagement of student voice. There is an unrelenting focus on the development of literacy and numeracy skills and a breadth of enrichment experiences including learning expeditions. The curriculum covers the essential knowledge that all students should acquire and is part of a wider academy curriculum that best meets the needs of our students. Key Stage 3 is the building block that will enable learners to acquire appropriate skills and qualifications that lead to real employment, further education and higher education opportunities. Key Stage 4 Each student is able to make choices about the subjects they study at Key Stage 4 within an entitlement or baccalaureate structure. Core subjects remain compulsory. Students choose an individual pathway to study from a wide range of GCSE, vocational and non-vocational courses dependant on individual needs and interests. This provides opportunities for progression, and ensures more meaningful experiences for our students, supporting them in their quest to be confident, enquiring individuals who are resilient, respectful and motivated to achieve their best, and ensuring all our students have the skills and aptitudes to succeed in their next phase of learning or work.
