Purpose Driven Hospitality. With the overall pandemic period in mind, travelling is becoming more urgent to all of us and with more emphasis on being able to go to beautiful, peaceful places and spend time with friends and family. We strongly believe that there will be less of the over crowed beach clubs and restaurants and far more intimate gatherings at beautiful privatized properties, as well as educational and experiential travel in more remote areas. 8 | L ATINO MAGAZINE

SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE CASA FANTINI ITALY Casa Fantini is at the heart of the historical village of Pella in the beautiful scenario of Lake Orta: the most romantic of the Italian lakes, in the mountains of Piedmont. The area, well connected to the main international airports and at only 50 minutes by car from Milan, it is a perfect base for nature lovers, wild scenarios and a unique opportunity to disconnect from a busy routine.
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE San Giulio The property offers prime views on the beautiful and enticing island of San Giulio where there is a sacred monastery to visit. The ancient village of Orta, which is one of the most fascinating and romantic spots in Northern Italy, is also close by. Here the streets are narrow, and the buildings have a slightly faded elegance. There’s plenty of excellent architecture from the baroque, 15th Century church on the hill, and a Romanesque basilica.
World Heritage Site This small piece of land is not only heaven for foodies and wine lovers; the territory offers nature walks, art and history tours and photographic unique opportunities. Hidden among the green woods on the top of a hill overlooking the lake, the Sacro Monte di Orta is part of the group of the Sacred Alpine Mountains in Piedmont and Lombardy considered UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has 21 chapels with frescoes and terracotta sculptures on the life of San Francis, a real treasure immersed in a unique natural context. 15 | L ATINO MAGAZINE
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE LA LOCANDA ITALY South of Siena and Florence the Val D’Orcia lies as a remote valley full of surprises, with rolling landscapes, a renaissance atmosphere, ancient spas and, most amazingly of all, little sign of crowded tourism. Locanda in Tuscany seats right in this “uncontaminated spot” away from every daily life sounds and overlooks this stunning UNESCO Heritage area.
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE The Valley The valley has long been an idyllic getaway for Italians and foreign travellers alike, who come for the relaxed sophistication found in and around the towns of Montalcino, Pienza, and Montepulciano, for the renowned cuisine and robust wine, endless outdoor activities and for the area’s convenience to Florence and Rome (both are less than a two-hour drive away).
Tradition & Inspiration The area’s abundance of thermal springs is one of the key attractions. Bagno Vignoni it is a clear example of that. This is a tiny and charming spa village, comprising a scattering of houses, a few local shops and several traditional trattorias. In the village’s heart there is a steaming hot water in an ancient walled basin the size of a small piazza, surrounded by lanes on three sides and a covered loggia on the fourth. This is a very unique and inspiring corner of the past Roman history. 19 | L ATINO MAGAZINE
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE CASA MIA BRAZIL The laid-back charms of Trancoso, a tiny fishing village in Brazil’s Bahia state, has preserved its character over the years: horses grazing in the sixteenth-century main square, called “the Quadrado”; rows of brightly painted UNESCO- protected homes; and miles of empty beaches bordered by pristine Atlantic rain forest. The settlement was founded by Jesuits in 1586 as São João Batista dos Indies and its tiny 16th-century church, built by indigenous people, is one of the oldest in Brazil. Trancoso was discovered in the early Seventies by São Paulo’s bohemian hippy set, who brought craftsmen from all over Brazil to help build their often-stylish houses.
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE Bahian Paradise Casa Mia is perfectly located in the Quadrado, a large, rectangular “village green” with the famous cathedral at one end overlooking the beach and sea: Trancoso’s beach is a nearly 15-mile stretch of gold sand and clear water. Old fisherman bars are all over the beach, serving Bahian cuisine and innovative tropical cocktails. With the “Mirante” -the belvedere, nearby-, the green is the centre of Trancoso life, filled with capoeira, evening soccer games, vibe and social adventure. Along its sides, shaded by huge trees, are brightly colored houses and numerous artisan stalls, shops and restaurants, all beautiful by day and night.
Mirror-clear Water Everything about Trancoso is just so pleasing, like Espelho Beach a must do while there. The name of the beach is translated as “mirror”, which eloquently emphasizes the purity of its mirror-clear waters, which reflect the glare of the sun, sky blue and snow-white clouds. These waters are surrounded by picturesque cliffs with a rainforest at about six miles south Trancoso. En route to the beach, there is the village of Itaporanga, where the Pataxo Indians have a unique way of attracting custom for their folk arts stalls and local artisanal products. 23 | L ATINO MAGAZINE
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE HUB PORTEÑO ARGENTINA Buenos Aires, also called the “Paris of South America” for decades, is a magnificent city with grand avenues and vibrant cultural scene crafted by European immigrants at the beginning of the 20th Century. The city is blessed by neoclassical architecture, artful artisanal shops, delicious pastries, and sprawling green spaces, -a city where the soccer games are a life must, the whip-quick moves of tango never miss a beat, and the sounds of sizzling asado and Malbec carry late into the late night-. Born in one of the city’s upscale sections -Recoleta- the Hub Porteño provides with the best the city has to offer for its French style and its unique location.
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE Feeling Europe Recoleta is a truly European and luxurious neighbourhood that is blessed with magnificent buildings, elegant restaurants, outdoor cafes, bars, a world renown Opera House and several museums. In the 1870’s, when a yellow-fever epidemic sent many of the cities elite from their comfortable lodgings of San Telmo, Recoleta prospered and became one of the wealthiest and most stylish neighbourhood for the upper classes in the city.
Arts & Necropolis From shopping for antiques to exploring the most impressive collection of Latin American art, there’s no shortage of things to do in Recoleta. Unmissable is the city of the dead, one of the world’s greatest cemeteries that features thousands of statues, mausoleums that resemble Gothic chapels, crypts, fairytale grottoes, sarcophagi, coffins, and elegant little houses that hold the remains of some of Argentina’s most iconic and celebrated figures. Look for Evita, presidents and generals, and try not to get lost in the labyrinthine pathways. 27 | L ATINO MAGAZINE
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE LA FORTUNA ARGENTINA La Fortuna is an elegant Palacio de la Pampa in Salto -Buenos Aires province- which seamlessly combines the traditions of the surrounding farmlands and Argentinian heritage, with professionally provided services and modern comforts. The area is full of history and tradition allowing to enjoy rural tourism and the friendliness of the locals. Salto (Buenos Aires) is a hotspot outside the big city with a deep-rooted agricultural tradition, its origin dates back to the year 1737 when a fort was established to defend the town and a military garrison, from the attacks of the “malones”. A very quiet town, where you can appreciate the country landscape, taste delicious typical barbecue in folk restaurants, or refresh yourself in the green grove. A serene, natural, country land, with a warm climate only 170 kilometres from Capital Federal. This makes Salto an ideal destination for whoever would like to get in touch with the life of the gauchos, the typical men from the pampas, and relax in a manicured countryside while horseback riding.
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE The Land of the Gaucho The bond between the land and the animals is very strong in this region. There are long-standing traditions of horse-keeping and horsemanship. In the land of the gaucho, boys and girls are often plopped into the saddle around the time they learn to walk, which is why many of the sport’s best players come from this country where the sun shines for nine or ten months a year.
La Pulpería While at La Fortuna, it is worth making a stop at one of the our local Pulpería (drink store): one of the most emblematic and traditional drink and dining spots of the area, whose walls are lined with old bottles of wine and local curated meats are exhibit... The Terracotta oven, offers the opportunity to taste local empanadas of a various filing and the famous “Asado” (barbeque) is a must. 31 | L ATINO MAGAZINE
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE IKIN MARGARITA VENEZUELA The beautiful Isla Margarita with soft white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and striking natural beauty is tucked away in the quiet corner of the Caribbean. Ikin Margarita Hotel & Spa is located in the northeast of Isla Margarita, in Playa el Cardon. The property is settled in the middle of nature and makes every stay a magical experience with tranquility and intimacy. Its privileged location has made it a reference at local and regional level both for the quality of its service, as well as for the beauty of its facilities and for its paradisiacal views of the Caribbean Sea.
SCENERY & L ANDSCAPE Forts & Pirates Discovered by Columbus in 1498, the island is full of history and offers some of the country’s best beaches, magnificent landscape and a lot of history. High forested mountains are home to fortresses and forts. They were built by Spaniards to protect their shores from the pirates during the colonial times. The colonial town La Asunción, the political capital of Margarita, is undoubtedly popular for its fortress. For many years, the Fort of Sant Rosa was a symbol of independence. The fort is also one of the most important historical symbols of the island.

MY TR AVEL JOURNEY MY TRAVEL JOURNEY 52 | L ATINO MAGAZINE
MY TR AVEL JOURNEY Val d’Orcia, Tuscany My preference goes for the rural region of Tuscany, -being arguably one of the most popular area in Italy-; outstanding landscapes, tasty food & wine, enchanting history, and astonishing art. One of my favorite area in the region is Val d’Orcia: a UNESCO World Heritage site offering beautiful scenery filled with green vineyards against wheat fields and rolling hills dotted with hilltop Medieval Borgi such as Pienza, Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni which are steeped in history and waiting to be explored.
The main diet in Tuscany is based on meat and pasta accompanied by robust wines, which includes the prestigious Tignanello and Sasaccia.. Local restaurants offer a variety of delicious dishes within an authentic local ambience many in original wineries where I can enjoy the Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino. While staying in a private villa or at a charming cozy hotel, do not miss private art visits; immerse yourself in the culture and history at the Renaissance cities of Florence and Siena; hike in the gorgeous countryside; experience the hot air ballooning over the Val d’Orcia, or enjoy wine and cheese tasting with local cooperatives. Why not reading an inspirational book while relaxing: one of my favorite is Renaissance Woman: The Life of Vittoria Colonna by Ramie Targoff A biography of Vittoria Colonna, a confidante of Michelangelo, the descendent of one of the most powerful families of her era, and a pivotal figure for the Italian Renaissance.
