South East and East Asia are a short flight away, and the Kimberley region shares its time zone with more than 20 per cent of the world’s population (1.5 billion people). About the Kimberley The Kimberley is a vast region with abundant resources, attractions and opportunities. Located in the north of Western Australia it comprises four local government areas: The Shires of Broome, Derby-West Kimberley, Halls Creek and Wyndham-East Kimberley. The region is flanked with the prominent regional centres of Broome to the west and Kununurra to the east. Broome Demographic and Economic Profile The Shire of Broome accommodates 43 per cent of the Kimberley’s population.
