Kia koutou e te whānau,
‘As ministers our greatest temptation is towards too many
words. They weaken our faith and make us lukewarm.
Silence is a sacred discipline, a guard of the Holy Spirit’ -
Henri Nouwen
Just breathe. There can be a simplicity to this life. We eat,
sleep, work, play. We all see these things in a different
order in terms of priority. For me, sleep has been a
precious commodity and eating is just something that I
love (alongside coffee...). Just breathe. We so easily get
caught up in the ‘doing’ of life. There is much mahi (work)
that needs to be done. Just breathe. Work is essential, as
is sleeping, eating and playing. The question I’ve been
grappling with is how do I ‘be’. Life is about ‘being’ and
not so much about the ‘doing’. Just breathe.
Kia koutou e te whānau, Northcity Church
Last week I had the opportunity to get away and have
space to Breathe. It was glorious. It was precious to have
the time and space for this. But it is not our everyday
reality. Everyday reality so quickly becomes bustle. Can we
slow-down enough to realise the unhealthy nature of this?
Just breathe. The next series we are moving towards is
entitled ‘Healthy Spirituality’. What does healthy
spirituality look like? How can we cultivate practices that
grow our inner world or sacred spaces. Just breathe.
Life can become a trap. Just breathe. My challenge is to
learn to allow silence and space for God to speak. Take the
time to ‘Be’. Listen to what Wairua Tapu is saying. We
can’t listen in the hustle and madness of our everyday. It
requires discipline to stop. Just breathe. What does this
mean for us as a community? What rhythms do we need
in our everyday to enable and encourage silence and
reflection? In prayer, are we allowing the Lord to speak to
us? Take some time this week to ‘Be Still’. Practice silence
and the art of Being. Slow down.... Just breathe.
Much Aroha!

Understanding Systemic Racism
                    in Our Own Land
              Guest Speaker: Sir Mark Solomon
Saturday 11th July, 7pm at Northcity Church,
                95a Sawyers Arms Road, Papanui
                                 Free Event
Organized by Te Raranga City Wide Church Network
With the support of Heads of Denominations
Te Raranga city wide church network have invited Sir Mark Solomon to speak
to the wider church and community on the issues of systemic racism in our
own land. The black lives matter movement around the world has seen an
incredible increase of the demand to face this systemic racism, and rightfully
so. Let’s grow together in awareness and understanding of how this outworks
in Aotearoa New Zealand, and how we might respond with action that
promotes the recognition and honouring of Tangata Whenua, and ultimately
growth into the multicultural nation that Te Tiriti o Waitangi/ the Treaty of
Waitangi provides a framework for. All welcome, nau mai haere mai!

COVID19 related hardship | Getting the
support to those who need it.
Do you know a household that is going through challenges due to
redundancy, reduced work hours and income, or other hardship
related to COVID19? These people could be friends, family, colleagues,
neighbours, church members,
etc.
Northgate is recompiling their
produce delivery list to ensure
that the produce boxes go to
those with challenges due to
COVID19 (as per MSD criteria).
Raewyn Bell would phone the
person to understand the
challenging circumstances and
get information necessary to deliver the produce box.
Please send an email to raewyn@northgatetrust.co.nz or ph Raewyn on
027 629 6668. Love to hear from you about anybody. Just need a name
and phone number to start with.

Can you help | Spread blessing by delivering
produce boxes in the local community. about an
hour of your time weekly or fortnightly
Raewyn Bell and Edwin Edmonds have been delivering fresh produce
boxes over the last 10 weeks – funded by the government in response
to COVID19.
Would love a couple more people to help with the delivery process.
Pick up about 6 boxes from the church and take a drive around an area
such as Bishopdale, Bryndwr or Harewood and deliver boxes to the
door. It will take about an hour of your time mid to late Thursday
afternoons. I supply the route and delivery addresses and you get to
bless people. Please send an email to raewyn@northgatetrust.co.nz or
ph Raewyn on 027 629 6668.
