Cabin/Shelter #3Dear Unit Leader: Thank you for signing up for the Kettle Country District’s Webelos-ree Wagon Days. We are here to help you deliver a quality program to the scouts of your unit. The Webelos-ree staff are a highly motivated group of leaders, adults and scouts who have all made sacrifices to be at the Webelos-ree and we have been working hard to continually upgrade our program to better serve you and your scouts. Your scout's safety and positive experience is our number one priority; working together with the staff, adult leaders and district to ensure an awesome experience. We are looking forward to a great weekend! We have an action-packed day planned for your scouts and in order to complete the Webelos- ree program, we ask that each unit move quickly and efficiently between the stations. Please familiarize yourself with the event agenda. PLEASE NOTE: With this being an outdoor event – vaccinated individuals do not have to wear a mask. If you are unvaccinated, it is suggested to wear a mask as per CDC guidelines. As always it is up to the scouting family to decide what is appropriate for them. • Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts (only) who want to test their skills participating in
Wagon Days.
WHEN
• Saturday, November 6, 2021
• Check-in begins at 12:15 pm
• Event Kick Off with Flag Ceremony at 12:45 pm
• Event ends at 5:30 pm

HOW MUCH
• $10.00 per Webelos
• Adult / Leader
REGISTRATION
• Must register on-line
• Each wagon team should not be greater than 8 Webelos per Wagon – large groups,
must break units into smaller teams.
• If your team is less than 3, please contact Russell Nickerson and we may be able to
hitch you up with another small team.
• 14 Wagon Crews maximum.
• Registration deadline: Wednesday November 3, 2021 (by midnight)
• There will be NO on-site registration.
CHECK-IN
• Once your entire group has arrived - please proceed to check in together.
• Bring your Health forms to show you have them – you will keep them with you
• Upon check in, maps and rotation schedules will be distributed at that time.
CLASS A FIELD UNIFORM
Class A Field Uniform is required for Saturday’s Opening and Closing Flag Ceremonies. Scouts
may wear their Class B t-shirts under their uniforms so they can change out of their Class A
during the day’s activities.
MEALS
All Participants and volunteers should eat lunch prior to the event.CANCELLATION POLICY (From Registration Website) Council's standard cancellation fees are: Cancel within 0 days of making a registration and the entire amount is returned. After 0 days of making the registration but not within 14 of the event the customer is charged 10% of the registration cost being cancelled. Once within 14 days of the event the customer is charged 100% of the registration cost being cancelled. LEADERSHIP Each unit must have at least two registered adult leaders in camp (on site) at all times. Youth Protection policies must be adhered to at all times and are especially important in relation to photography use. Failure to comply with Youth Protection policies may result in scouts or adults being asked to leave the camp without refund. Your agreement to this is recognized by registration to this event. HEALTH & SAFETY Every scout and adult attending camp must have with them a current BSA Health Form with Parts A and B completed. Unit leaders should collect and review all medical forms prior to camp and keep in their possession for review. With this being an outdoor event – vaccinated individuals do not have to wear a mask. If you are unvaccinated, it is suggested to wear a mask as per CDC guidelines. As always it is up to the scouting family to decide what is appropriate for them. The event will have a “health officer” on staff for the duration of the Webelos-ree for more serious situations. However, if a medical emergency occurs, dial 911 immediately. PARKING PASSES REQUIRED Parking pass is required at this COUNTY PARK. Your State Park “parking pass” will not work. Parking Passes for this event are FREE. Please download the file labeled “Check In Location and Free Park Permit Instructions” from the registration site and share with all individuals that are driving and planning on staying at the event. WEBELOS-REE WAGON DAYS – THE STORY Webelos come test your knowledge and skills while traveling down the 2,170-mile historic east– west wagon trail that connected the Missouri River to valleys in Oregon. Along the trail you will stop at Fort Boise, Fort Bridger, Fort Hall and Fort Lararrie. At each of the forts you will be challenged to complete tasks that will test your scout’s skills. You will learn compass skills, fire building with only flint and steel, refine your first aid and orientation skills. By the end of your journey you will be a skilled Waggoneers!!!
FORT (STATION) ACTIVITES
Some activities are based on the requirements found in the Webelos Handbook, basic scouting
skills, team development, etc.
Scouts will be judged on skills displayed along with Group Participation, Scout Spirit,
Cooperation, and Leadership.
This is a Youth Led event (modeled after Boy Scouting). Adult participation and/or intervention
may result in loss of points to the scouts. Wagon Master and/or Fort Captain may ask adults to
assist to ensure safety or to give advice to Wagon Leader if approved by the Fort Captain.
Adult assistance to assure safety is a must and will not deter from the Wagon Team’s score.
Individual Station Awards will be presented at end of event.
Please Note: One station will be a Wagon Supply Check so make sure you have the supplies
listed under Wagon Supplies and have the Webelos brush up on their knot tying skills.
WAGONS
Each unit is to is to show up with a Chuck Wagon – see options below along with supplies for
your wagon.
There are two options for wagons:
1) Use a “pre-made” wagon (i.e. radio flyer or similar) and attached a canopy to the wagon
to resemble a wagon from the 1800’s.
2) Build a wagon(s) based on the plans downloaded from the registration site. If building of
this wagon is a hardship or you have any difficulties, please contact Russell Nickerson
for assistance.
WAGON SUPPLIES
All Wagons must have these supplies as they will be used at various stations.
• 2 - Pencil / Pen
• 1 - pad of paper
• 1 – clip board
• 2 - compasses
• 8 - triangle first aid bandages (used for splinting)
• 4 – Arm size splints
• 2 – 6 foot poles (strong enough to support a scouts weight)
• 1 - Blanket
• 1/4" Rope, 3' long with the Ends Whipped or fused – 1 per scout
• Matches for starting a fire
• Flint and Steel for starting a fire
• Hand Sanitizer
• At least one copy of the current Webelos Handbook
• 1 garbage bag
• Tools and spare parts for repairs to wagon during this event
• Water bottle for each scout
• Unit number, Charter Organization and Community name displayed on wagon (these
may be printed on wagon cover)WAGON MASTERS
Each Wagon Team (Den) needs to choose a Wagon Master. The Wagon Master will guide /
leader of the Wagon Team through out the day.
A MESSAGE TO THE WAGON MASTER
You have been chosen by your den to lead your wagon. Below are some simple rules to help
you carry out your job. Good luck and good Scouting.
1) Show your Scouting Spirit. Cheer, Sing, and have a Wagon Yell.
2) Work as a TEAM. Remember what the members of your Wagon Team may be good at
to accomplish tasks at each fort.
3) If you have a question, ask your Wagon Guide or Fort Captain.
4) Each Fort’s activity will be scored by the Fort Captain. Fort Captain’s score is final.
5) Work as a team, remember your team is here to have fun.
6) While your wagon is in the Fort, Scouts cannot ask parents for answers or talk to any
other adults, except Fort Advisors (Scoutmaster assisting at the Fort).
RULES FOR WAGON GUIDES (Adults / Den Chiefs traveling along with the Scouts)
1) Show the boys the Scouting Spirit. Lead by Example!
2) When you arrive have all your Webelos Scouts and wagon assembled as soon as
possible then you can immediately go and register.
3) You are here to help the boys. You can help them read a word, find a Fort / Station, fix a
wagon breakdown, or in case of an injury or sickness. You cannot help them solve the
problem at a Fort.
4) Your wagon must remain in a group at a Fort for 20 minutes.
5) No one should talk to the Webelos Scouts when they are at a Fort / Station. It may
reflect upon the Wagon Team’s score.
6) Rain will not interfere with Webelos Wagon Day. However, in case of thunder and
lightning – move all Scouts immediately back to the shelter.
7) Wagon Guide’s are allowed to help the Scouts and wagon in any unforeseen case to
ensure safety.
