Google Search • Google Search is the most used search engine on the Web with 92.74% market share as of October 2018 and handling more than 3.5 billion searches each day • The order of search results returned by Google is based, in part, on a priority rank system called PageRank • Google indexes hundreds of terabytes of information • For websites that are currently down or otherwise not available, Google provides links to cached versions of the site, formed by the search engine's latest indexing of that page • Additionally, Google indexes some file types, being able to show users PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, certain Flash multimedia content, and plain text files Copyright © 2019 K2 Enterprises, LLC. Google Search Operators • You can use search operators to find exactly what you’re looking for • Search operators narrow your results to a particular site, date, or result type • You can use operators to find a specific file, news article, person or just about anything else • Remember, search operators can be combined to get more specific and relevant results • For example, “budget +manufacturing filetype=.xlsx” would give you Excel files that are budgets and include the term manufacturing Copyright © 2019 K2 Enterprises, LLC. Google Image Search • Google Images allows a user to search the web for photos, graphics, clip art, or any other type of image • Additionally, you can do a reverse image search which will allow the user to find webpages that match or are similar to an uploaded image • The search can be refined to only show images of a particular type, size, category, color, resolution, etc. • Very useful for finding images for presentations, documents, web pages, or anything else requiring graphics • It is the responsibility of the user to ensure they properly license an image found using Google Image Search • Visit https://images.google.com/ Copyright © 2019 K2 Enterprises, LLC. Dining And Restaurant Searching • Google Search can give you recommendations on where to eat or detailed information on specific restaurants • You can search for dining options in a specific area and/or for a specific cuisine • When you select a restaurant, it will provide location and contact information. It can also let you know the selected restaurant will be busy or slow for a particular time. You can browse photos submitted by other users or provided by the restaurant. Gmail Search Operator • Like Google Search operators, Gmail Search operators allow you to find the exact email you’re looking for • Hands down, one of the best search of any email client or service • Search operators can be provided in the search box of your Gmail or utilized to create filters • Operators can be combined to further refine your search. Google Assistant • Google Assistant is an artificial intelligence‐powered virtual assistant developed by Google that is primarily available on mobile and smart home devices • It can perform a wide range of personal assistant tasks such as making restaurant recommendations, make reminders, send messages or even add things to your Netflix queue • Coming soon: Google Duplex, an extension of Google Assistant that allows it to carry out natural conversations by mimicking human voice The assistant can autonomously complete tasks such as calling a hair salon to book an appointment, scheduling a restaurant reservation, or calling businesses to verify holiday store hours Copyright © 2019 K2 Enterprises, LLC.
