Festival fever, summer fun and hopefully some sun is on the way. Regardless of the weather, glór has a packed programme of shows, summer camps and festival events to keep you entertained. I hope you can also join us for our second Gin & Jazz fundraiser at The Old Ground Hotel on the summer solstice, which promises to be a great night whilst raising funds for glór's pivotal artist development and educational initiatives. Your Visit Talking Theatre: Post show discussions with members of the company will take place after selected theatre and other shows and we encourage you to join in, ask questions and reflect on the work that you have seen. Post-show discussions will take place after the following shows: Edges of Light, (Sat 28 Jul), What Good is Looking Well When You’re Rotten on the Inside?, (Sat 15 Sep) and Cracks, (Sat 22 Sep). We appreciate it can be an expensive night out when you have to pay for a sitter as well as everything else – so we have noted some shows that are suitable for well-behaved children to attend, for a parents-child date night! PlatForms PlatForms is a new glór initiative to support artists in creating new work – it is free to attend for audiences and will illuminate the creative process and the choices that artists make. Artists interested in applying should visit www.glor.ie/news Dementia Friendly Gallery Tours glór with Clare Arts Office is delighted to introduce regular Dementia Friendly Guided tours to accompany glór’s visual arts programme. Led by Theatre Artist Eleanor Feely, glór will offer guided exhibition tours specifically designed to support people living with dementia and their family, friends or professional carers, to engage with the art work on show and enjoy a social gallery experience. If you would like to take part in these regular tours, please contact gallery@glor.ie glór welcomes Film Shorts Submissions Each spring and autumn glór curates a fortnightly programme of critically Get Creative acclaimed Irish and international films. visual arts glór presents Common Languages: A Craft and Design Exhibition featuring Hanna Van Aelst, Jackie Maurer and Lesley Stothers From Fri 22 June – Sat 1 Sep Launches on Fri 29 June This summer, glór will present an exhibition featuring three craftspeople at the top of their game: contemporary willow artist and basket maker Hanna Van Aelst; ceramicist Jackie Maurer and textile artist Lesley Stothers. Common Languages will celebrate the best in design and innovation and presents the work of three exceptional craftspeople, each of whom are passionate about the idea of making, their sense of place and the sharing of skills. This exhibition will showcase work that is produced using very traditional craft skills and will celebrate the values of crafts practice in the 21st century by bringing together work that expresses imaginative contemporary ideas through an understanding of materials, skills and traditions. A Guided Tour led by the artists followed by demonstrations glór gallery is open will take place on Saturday 14 July at 11.30am. Eoin has lived in Clare for the past 30 years and has been an integral part of the traditional music landscape in the county. In 2015 Eoin was the winner of the MÓRglór award for Outstanding Contribution to Traditional Music in County Clare and he is famous for his informal music sessions and classes in many venues throughout the county. The whole family can take part so bring along your instruments and tune up! information & booking - www.glor.ie Foil, Arms & Hog: Craicling Sat 8 Sep 8pm €25 Former children and regular eaters, Foil Arms & Hog are back with the Irish premiere of their new show Craicling. The show has yet to be reviewed but when it is, it will be “utterly spellbinding” and “a triumph.” Best known for their YouTube videos, (50 million online hits), their live show is what they’re most proud of.
