FROM THE COACH Wow, how quick has term 2 gone! Firstly, thanks a lot to all the players and parents for another awesome term of TranzAlpineHoney Ace squads. All of you have done a fantastic job at training and have been open minded and willing to learn new things over the winter period. All of your work and for some of you some major changes to your game have made a big difference in that way you are playing, you should all be very proud of your efforts. What a strange term it was. The COVID-19 pandemic hit everyone hard and did not help us with our organisation of tennis. I want to praise all of you for how dedicated you have been since coming back to Ace squads and the effort you have all put in over the break. A big thanks also needs to go to the Ace Committee. Their support of myself and the players to help us get back on the court quickly after the lockdown was something to admire. We were the first regional performance programme in the country to get back up and running. Over the past few terms I and the Ace committee have worked hard to give you all the best possible chance to succeed in the sport of tennis. Our numbers of participation have been growing and we have added in a new strength and conditioning programme for players in the higher performance groups. We are again, one of the only regional programme in the country to be offering this over the winter period. Right from our Aspiring Aces group to our Federer group we have had some great results over the last couple of terms. The reason I love coaching is seeing you all succeed after all the extra work you all put in, it is great to watch. Update emails have now been sent out in terms of how many weeks players have at each squad level. You will be updated once you have completed your final session for the term. Again, thanks to all the players and especially the parents, our development programme would not be able to run without your support. If you are looking at having some extra tennis over the holiday break feel free to join the Holiday Programme. Information is on the Mid Canterbury Tennis Facebook page and a reminder email will be sent out. I look forward to seeing all of you next term for some more hard work and fun on the tennis courts. Have a great holidays! Jack coach@midcanterburytennis.co.nz 021 026 87322
