8 Performers >>>> Sheldon Casavant Children’s entertainment 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m. on the Community Stage Imagine a mind-bending experience where borrowed objects vanish and reappear, float through the air and challenge your perceptions of reality. Laughter, amazement and excitement: Sheldon Casavant’s light-hearted show will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. Since discovering the art of magic at a young age, Sheldon has become one of Canada’s most highly sought-after magicians. His unique show is contemporary, fun and highly interactive. Based in Edmonton, Sheldon has entertained audiences across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Panama and China, and has performed over 630 shows in Japan. Not your everyday magician, he has also authored a children’s book that was shortlisted for an Alberta Children’s Literature Award, been listed on Avenue Magazine’s top 40 under 40, and been nominated twice for Entertainer of the Year by the Canadian Events Industry. Red Moon Road Folk-Rock 7 p.m. on the Beaverbrook Mainstage Red Moon Road makes a much bigger sound than one would expect from a trio. In an impressive well-choreographed show they incorporate impeccable three-part harmonies, a roots drum kit split entertainingly between two band members, and an acoustic guitar rigged to also be a bass. A moustached man plays mandolin, lap steel, banjo and organ, and subtle technological wizardry whirls as the unmistakable soulful voice of one of Canada’s premiere songstresses floats above it all. Honed in house concerts and main stage festival appearances alike, Red Moon Road is a tapestry of song, masterful storytelling and spontaneous banter, woven seamlessly into something truly exceptional. redmoonroad.com Presented by the Horizon Stagelighters
9 Boxcar Campfire Country Blues with a Touch of Cabaret 8 p.m. on the Beaverbrook Mainstage Boxcar Campfire was originally created by Cousin Harley lead Paul Pigat as a way for him to “bring it down a bit”. It has since taken on a life of its own, with a new recording and a touring project that allows a more reflective and insular shade of Pigat’s creativity to come into play. Those with sharp ears will hear snatches of everything from Debussy to Jimmy Rogers blues inflections thrown into the mix, but — as always — the sounds Pigat creates are all his own. This music gets you in the mood to hit the open road. paulpigat.com/boxcar-campfire Presented by the Horizon Stagelighters Clinton Richardson Pop Singer/Songwriter 9:15 p.m. on the Beaverbrook Mainstage Clinton Richardson is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from Edmonton who replicates the full sound of an entire band using looping technology. With a style that has been compared to Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz and Shawn Mendes, Clinton has been playing at events, concerts, markets, weddings and charities for the past seven years. clintonrichardson.ca Madeline Merlo Country Music 9:45 p.m. on the Beaverbrook Mainstage Hailing from Maple Ridge, B.C., Madeline Merlo is an award-winning artist, with four Top 15 singles under her belt, who has opened for Keith Urban, Dean Brody and Paul Brandt. After winning CCMA Rising Star in 2015 and BCCMA Female Artist of the Year two years in a row, Madeline released a series of successful singles including “Whatcha Wanna Do About It”, “War Paint”, which was the #1 Most Added country song in Canada in its debut week, and the soulful breakup ballad “Over & Over”. Her latest single, “Motel Flamingo,” is a vibrant, upbeat track that flew up the charts and landed in the Top 10 on Canadian Country Radio. Also a talented actress, in 2017 Madeline played lead role in the musical film Country Crush. Madeline has always had eclectic taste, and in her music you’ll hear the influence of classic country artists like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, R&B greats Etta James and Billie Holiday, and modern superstars such as Miranda Lambert. She is a champion of local artisans with a passion for promoting new designers and a free-spirited style that is as unique as her sound. madelinemerlo.com Presented by Horizon Stage
