Journey of Hope Join the Journey and become a part of the Aspire Story On behalf of Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre, we are excited to present our 2nd Journey of Hope Campaign. While we are disappointed to not be able to connect with you in person this year due to the cancellation of Evening of Decadent Dessert, we invite you to take this journey with us and help provide services for children with special needs and the families who love them. Last year we held our very first Journey of Hope campaign and were extremely grateful for the generosity of our Central Alberta community. Together, through the support of sponsors and bidders we raised $55,000. The continued challenges of the pandemic have encouraged us to re-imagine our events and offer our supporter’s new ways to contribute. In addition to our online auction we are adding a Raffle and locally sourced Mother’s Day gift baskets. Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre is a charitable organization located in Red Deer. What began as a single program, initiated by a small group of dedicated parents 36 years ago, has evolved into a multi-faceted resource centre offering diagnostic assessment and intervention services to children with complex needs. We continue to provide these services in person where possible and online when necessary. The work done at Aspire remains invaluable to the families we serve, and your support allows us to uphold our mission of providing hope to children with special needs, the families who love them and the communities that care for them. This year presented challenges to everyone in our community, but we continue to work together amidst uncertainty. We ask for your support in any way you can. Please share our event information and if you want to create something unique together, we encourage you to reach out. We are looking for sponsorship, cash donations, goods and services to help us on our journey of continuing to provide exceptional services to children with special needs and their families. Your investment in the children and families we serve at Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre is greatly appreciated. Donors will be recognized with every basket that goes out and with all the benefits in our corresponding benefits grid. Online Auction (May) Our online auction is the largest part of this event and will run for 3 weeks from May 9th to May 30th. Items will be collected at Aspire and Bidders can pick up from Aspire unless you wish to make other arrangements. Ways to support: • Item Donations for the online auction. • Cash sponsors to support expenses from the event. Donors will be recognized through the bid site where possible and on any item donated or sponsored as well as all corresponding benefits on our grid. Summer Raffle This will be a 4-5 week raffle in the summer of 2021, depending on the sponsorship we receive. Each week there will be a prize, with the grand prize being drawn at the end. Aspire provides hope to families. I always explain our son Lennox as a curious explorer who lives his He is challenged, life with no filter. Lennox takes in experiences that many overlook in supported, and loved the day to day and feels them fully. His heightened sensory system is one of the components of his Autism Spectrum diagnosis; which he received at 20 months of age. Additional areas of need include communication, self help, social skills and regulation. Navigating through a diagnosis in early days is not easy in itself; let alone trying to provide supports and locate resources for critical early intervention. This is where Aspire comes in- an incredible team of professionals working together with us; to support our little love with phenomenal programming. Aspire is an absolute gift for our son, family and community. The growth that Lennox has made in his overall development is profound. He can better cope with sounds in his environment, explore textures, try new foods, imitate, and even say some three word sentences. His growth and changes literally leaves us in awe daily. My personal favourite change happened shortly after starting at Aspire. He spoke the word I wanted to hear more than anything in the world. One evening- seemingly out of nowhere- he called out to me and said, “Momma.” That moment in time I will cherish forever. It was only the beginning for Lennox- they have truly helped him find his voice. Lennox now asks to “go car” and “school.” He loves his time at Aspire, and I know that each day, as I send my heart out the door to his EASE classroom, he is challenged, supported and loved.
