Stowe Veterinary Group JOIN OUR TEAM Veterinary nurses and Veterinary care assistants Our exemplary team of veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants are the backbone of our practices. Due to the size and vast array of species that SVG looks after, our nursing and veterinary care team are constantly kept on their toes. Our veterinary nurses have a vast expanse of knowledge between them, with many having their own particular interests and specialities. Some of our nurses have a keen interest in exotics and farm and equine, whereas others prefer small animals, including best breeding practices and puppy training classes. We really do offer an incredibly varied workload at SVG and are keen to harness any particular interests and specialities our members have. The role of the veterinary care assistant really has changed over the years, with many of the responsibilities previously undertaken by veterinary nurses now being under the veterinary care team. The primary task of the veterinary care team is to look after the patients that are admitted under our care, ensuring they are clean, comfortable and made to feel at home at times when they can be in severe distress. The great thing about being in the veterinary care team at SVG is the opportunity to progress and qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse through our sister company the Central College of Animal Studies, where your workload is split between the practice and the classroom. Stowe Veterinary Group JOIN OUR TEAM Night veterinary teams If you are more of a night owl than an early bird, working as a night veterinary surgeon or night veterinary nurse might be the perfect fit for you. On the night shift, our night veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses care for the practice’s in-patients, continuing their treatments as needed, as well as taking on the wide range of emergency cases that might come through our doors. Many veterinary surgeons and nurses enjoy working night shifts as a fantastic opportunity to build their career. By working regular night shifts they often see better case continuity, with the great satisfaction of seeing an animal’s treatment through from start to finish. Those on the night shift may see many different aspects of veterinary medicine which they wouldn’t normally encounter on a daytime schedule. Although many shifts see our teams working through the night, our practices each include overnight accommodation for when there is opportunity for rest. Our kitchens are kept stocked with snacks, teas, coffees and other refreshments to keep them going throughout their shift. This has included an experienced ophthalmologist, who now provides a wide range of advanced procedures to help small animals suffering from eye problems. They will also offer CPD and training to other team members. This addition has been a vital part of our eye clinic in Moreton Hall Veterinary Centre which now benefits not only from new expertise, but also from specialised equipment imported from around the world. Our dermatology services have also been developed by a new dermatology certificate holder that has joined us at Stowe Veterinary Centre. This has expanded the services that our in-house dermatology clinic can provide, enabling us to offer a referral service to treat small animals with complex skin problems. Ipswich Veterinary Centre has its own 16 Slice GE CT scanner, with a remotely controlled infusion pump and a radiography control room. Our integrated PACS enables clinicians to review and seek second opinions for diagnostic imaging on high definition workstations. Studies can be shared across practices. Moreton Hall Veterinary Centre benefits from top-of-the-range ophthalmology equipment, including a corneal cross-linking machine, an electroretinography machine and a surgical microscope with teaching binocular. Our team of physiotherapists are able to give in-house treatments to support pets requiring post-operative physiotherapy to aid rehabilitation, as well as physiotherapy for maintenance. Our range of treatments includes pulsed electromagnetic therapy, low-light therapy and remedial exercises for land-based physiotherapy. Our Ipswich practice is also well-equipped to provide laser therapy. As well as a purpose-built physiotherapy suite, the state-of-the-art Ipswich Veterinary Centre is also equipped with a hydrotherapy pool and an underwater treadmill for water-based physiotherapy.
