JANUARY 2019 CALENDAR OF EVENTS HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES, “The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to make life better for those around us.” As I sit here and write this message, I am amazed on just how quickly another year has flown by. This quote reminds me of just how blessed I am to have been able to serve as your Chamber Board President. With our crazy hectic lives, there is no doubt that the holiday season, no matter what your beliefs are, is a perfect time to reflect on the blessings of the past year, and identify opportunities to impact others around you in a positive way. Early in 2018, my message to all of you was that my goal as Chamber President was not to “make a lot of changes”, but to help guide this train down the limitless track that Tywana, Stephanie, MaCall, previous board members and of course, our current board have us on. I feel confident in saying that original goal I set has been attained. Our membership continues to grow, we have many new businesses that opened their doors in 2018, and our communities continue to grow and prosper. I want to wish each and every one of you nothing but the best and I hope you truly take time to reflect, while looking for opportunities to make yourself and those around you better. COACHING & LEADERS GOODNESS GROWS BUSINESS Like it or not, the world of business is constantly changing. Technology can bring new and exciting opportunities, but The providers at WRHP are honored to be able to offer leadership and workplace coaching, teaming with at the same time create greater challenges as it requires businesses to stay on the cutting edge or suffer from lagging Shawn Preuss, founder of Preuss CoachLeader Academy (PCLA). Mary Ann, Steve and Cella are all PCLA behind their competitors. certified coach trainers, specializing in on-site leadership and coach training with a focus on relationship. PCLA works with organizations to co-design a culture change using a CoachLeader approach, resulting in Leadership styles are also changing. Millennials are entering the workforce self-empowered and less trusting of a transformative growth, employee engagement, and a positive environment. top-down management style. They are led by their values and sense of purpose and see leadership as a collaborative endeavor. What this means for the leaders of today is that they must be adaptable in order to move successfully through this paradigm shift with the agility to manage any change that presents itself. Imagine flying a plane while you’re trying to rebuild it in mid-air while also engaging all the passengers on board, as well as the ground crew and air traffic control. The good news is, today’s workforce is motivated to grow through change, but leaders must be prepared to create a culture where growth and development are an essential piece of their business structure. Recently the Henley School of Business established a Global Research Report titled, “Tomorrows Leadership and the Necessary Revolution in Todays Leadership Development.” What they found was the Leaders of tomorrow will have fewer people to vertically manage and many more people they need to partner with. Learning how to co-partner in order to collaborate effectively is what the CoachLeader Approach is all about. Shawn Preuss, MCC Mary Ann Marx, PCC Preuss CoachLeader Academy True North Life Coaching, LLC In another study conducted by the International Coach Federation, they found that companies that invested in coaching and leadership training saw a return of seven times (7x) the initial investment. Bottom line, CoachLeaders significantly impact business results. In addition to that, organizations with a strong coaching culture report greater engagement and retention of their employees. Imagine you have employees who: • Communicate effectively • Connect deeply • Commit to each other and a larger purpose • Collaborate regularly • Celebrate continued success It is possible, and PCLA is excited to partner with the Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce in 2019 to introduce the Preuss CoachLeader Approach. Chamber members will have an opportunity to experience what PCLA can do to equip business leaders with the necessary skills to recruit, engage, and retain employees on February 21st, 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. This workshop will offer a taste of what PCLA can do to empower and ignite your businesses to its highest level and help to design a course to best meet the needs of its member organizations.
