3. Can WSDip applicants choose the company they want to work in? Applicants can choose from a list of participating companies during the WSDip intake exercise. However, they must attend interviews conducted by the company and be employed by the company, before starting WSDip Programme. 4. What do employers look for at the selection interview for WSDip applicants? Like most recruitment processes, it is important for WSDip applicants to show good work attitude and passion for the job. Being interested in the company and displaying willingness to add value will help the applicant as well. As this is a Diploma-level programme, employers also expect applicants to be strong in knowledge and skills learnt from previous Nitec / Higher Nitec courses. 5. Can Nitec / Higher Nitec students of non-feeder courses qualify for WSDip courses that they really like? It is possible for Nitec / Higher Nitec students of non-feeder courses to be accepted in WSDip courses that they really like. However, approval is on a case-by-case basis and the employer has to say yes as well. If the applicant is accepted, he / she will not get the sign-on incentive. 6. In the scenario where the intake period seems quite far off from the Operationally Ready Date (ORD), what can prospective WSDip students do in the meantime? If waiting time for the next intake period is long, those who are interested can try to get jobs in areas related to the course, in order to better understand job expectations. 7. Is there a bond period after the WSDip? If yes, how long is it? Most companies do not impose a bond period after the WSDip. For those which do, bond periods typically range from 1.5 to 2 years. However, this information must be shared with applicants before the start of the course. 8. How will WSDip trainees be assessed in the course? The trainees will be graded by the company and ITE. At ITE, we may require the trainees to go through an in-course assessment and a written test after a module. 9. Can WSDip graduates apply to progress to local universities? WSDip graduates can apply to related full-time or part-time degree programmes in the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Institute of Technology or Singapore University of Social Sciences, subject to the admission requirements of the university. 10. Will WSDip graduates get more pay and a higher job rank? As Diploma holders, WSDip graduates can generally get more pay and higher job ranks that poly Diploma graduates enjoy. However, it is only fair that companies do so after seeking good work performance as well.
