Island MONDAY 22ND NOVEMBER TO FRIDAY 26TH NOVEMBER, 2021 Welcome to Flinders Island - a part of the Furneaux Group of islands dotted across Bass Strait. She’s as spectacularly wild and rugged as the people are warm and welcoming. Beyond the green rolling hills of farmland, there’s a world of natural wonders to explore, from the pristine coastline to the rugged pink granite mountain ranges of the Strzelecki National Park as well as plants and animals found nowhere else on earth. O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours will match single travellers who wish to twin share with another single traveller of the same gender. However, if this is not possible, you shall be provided with single accommodation at the twin share fare (no additional cost).
TOUR INCLUSIONS Complimentary Chauffeur Driven Transfers. Victorian passengers from Greater Melbourne, Bendigo, Torquay, Ballarat, Geelong, the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, Phillip Island and selected areas of Gippsland will be picked up and returned home in a private chauffeured vehicle by one of our professional drivers. For passengers not within this pick up zone, or our interstate passengers a quote can be provided for home pickup in extended areas. Quality Touring Coach. DAY 1 Monday 22nd November, 2021 MELBOURNE TO FLINDERS ISLAND Welcome to our 5 day tour to Flinders Island. With pickup from our homes we transfer to Essendon Airport to depart for our scenic flight to Flinders Island. On our arrival to Whitemark Airport, we will be welcomed aboard the coach and transferred to our accommodation for the next four nights at the Furneaux Tavern in Lady Barron. Along the way keep an eye out for Cape Barren.Geese at home in their natural habitat of hillside and heath land, as we travel to Vinegar Hill Lookout for spectacular views out across Franklin Sound and its islands set against the backdrop of the hills of Cape Barren Island. DAY 2 Tuesday 23rd November, 2021 CASTLE ROCK - KILLIECRANKIE BAY - WYBALENNA Today we explore the north western corner of the island, pausing at the photogenic Castle Rock. We enjoy morning tea at the far northern area of Palana, a site of coastal surveillance at the start of World War II before touring to nearby North East River which is a favourite spot for local fishermen. We have time to stroll along beautiful Killiecrankie Bay keeping an eye out for the famous Killiecrankie diamonds. This afternoon we explore the history of Wybalenna, a small settlement established in 1833 – 1847 to house Tasmanian Aboriginal people brought to Flinders Island by George Robinson. Today, the only remaining building is the red brick chapel which has been restored by the National Trust and is of national heritage significance. Near Emita, we visit the small but interesting Furneaux Museum which contains a wonderful collection of records and exhibits of the island’s natural history, maritime heritage and island lifestyle, including mementos of stirring days and enterprises. We stroll along Allports Beach and enjoy afternoon tea before returning to our accommodation. OVERNIGHT: Furneaux Tavern, LADY BARRON DAY 3 Wednesday 24th November, 2021 BOAT CRUISE - PATRIARCHS WILDLIFE SANCTUARY After breakfast we board our cruise vessel departing from the wharf at Lady Barron for a morning cruise of picturesque Franklin Sound with its various islands including Little Dog, Great Dog and Vansittart. We explore remote beaches, observe the wildlife and the wonderful sight of soaring sea birds, Albatross, Pacific Gulls, Shearwaters and Sea Eagles. We return for lunch at the Tavern and some free time before meeting the Parks and Wildlife officer at Patriarch Wildlife Sanctuary, a wildlife haven where we will encounter some of the native animals. DAY 4 Thursday 25th November, 2021 TROUSERS POINT - MOUNT STRZELECKI - WHITEMARK This morning, we follow the Coast Road to Fotheringate Bay where we will have a chance to explore the beaches and have morning tea. We stop at the beautiful Trousers Point with Mount Strzelecki’s towering granite crags forming a backdrop to the pristine half-moon beach. We will need to have our cameras ready for this famous photogenic area! We travel to the main town of Whitemark to have a look around the town, with time to visit the galleries and gem shop before having lunch at The Interstate Hotel. This afternoon, we take in the 360 degree view of Flinders and the surrounding islands from Walkers Hill Lookout. We pause at Tobias Furneaux Lookout before travelling to Cameron Inlet and returning to our accommodation. OVERNIGHT: Furneaux Tavern, LADY BARRON DAY 5 Friday 26th November, 2021 FLINDERS ISLAND TO MELBOURNE For our last morning on Flinders Island we will have some time for exploring before we are transferred to Whitemark Airport for our flight back to Melbourne. As always, our chauffeurs will be there to greet us and return us safely to our homes with memories of a fascinating and rewarding tour of Flinders Island. PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY Receipt of payment of funds will be taken as acceptance of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours conditions of travel for this tour. Prices include GST and all taxes. Balance due on invoice approximately 60 days prior to departure. Deposit is fully refundable until 61 days prior to departure date. Cancellation 60 to 8 days before tour departure date 20% Refund of Tour Cost Cancellation within 7 days of tour departure date No Refund On or after tour date departure No Refund Travel Insurance is not compulsory, however we highly recommend you take out comprehensive travel insurance with a reputable insurer at the time you pay the balance for your tour. CONDITIONS OF TRAVEL These terms and conditions form the basis of the contract between You and O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours (O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours “We”, “Us”, or ”Our” contract). It is important that You read these terms and conditions carefully and that you understand your rights and obligations. By agreeing to participate in a tour arranged by Us, You are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions in full. Any special requests, dietary/personal must be notified to Our office at the time of booking. All efforts will be made to accommodate any special requests. It is your responsibility to advise O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours of any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect your ability to participate on the tour. No passenger will be permitted to embark on or continue the tour while their physical or mental condition is, in the opinion of any representative of O’Shannessy’s Quality tours, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or whereby they become objectionable to other passengers or they become a hazard to themselves or other passengers. Whilst on tour with O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours should a passenger require medical attention, discharge papers must be provided to a representative of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours before you are able to re-join the tour. O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours has a passenger code of conduct. O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours representatives/ crew or any associated carrier, reserves the right at its discretion to exclude from a tour or to terminate the travel arrangements of any person during the course of the tour without refund, of anyone who: Presents on the day of the tour departure as ill or unwell in any way, including but not limited to: cough, runny nose, sneezing, vomiting or temperature above 37.5 deg C Resides in an Australian suburb, which is the subject of a lockdown order by Your state government, Your request to book on one of Our tours may be denied Is incapable of caring for themselves without a minder/carer Is unable to cope with the requirements of the tour or who may need or require services or facilities that are not available Fails to comply with the reasonable instructions of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours crew Engages in undesirable behaviour or interferes with the enjoyment of other passengers Is a hazard to themselves or other passengers and/or is likely to become objectionable to other passengers, O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours staff and or third party suppliers Anyone so excluded will be required to disembark at a safe public location, transport from which will be wholly their responsibility. However, if and where possible, O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours staff may assist in obtaining transport. You agree that O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours is released from all liability for You and You agree not to hold O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours responsible for termination of Your travel arrangements. If you are bringing a mobile device on tour, for the safety of all passengers and crew, we highly recommend that the Official Government COVIDSafe App is downloaded. You must notify our office if you have returned from overseas in the last 21 days or if you have been in contact with anyone who has returned from overseas in the last 21 days.
