International Virgin Olive Oil Tasting 10th Edition - CINVE’2019 RULES & REGULATIONS Article 1 - Organizer. The CINVE’2019 International Virgin Olive Oil Tasting (hereinafter “the testing”) is organized by the company INVERSIONES SOBRECASES, S.L. (InsocFerial) CIF. B82335753 C/ Fuentes, 3-3º F 28008 Madrid (Spain) Article 2- Scope May participate Olive Oil Makers, Olive Growers, Producers, Trujales, Social Cooperatives and Cooperatives, Producers Organizations, Bottling Companies, Producers Associations, Merchants (Exporters, Importers and Merchants of Olive Oil), Packers. At the request of the organization, all of them must guarantee, through the necessary documentation, the origin of the oil presented for the tasting. All samples must have a valid label that complies with the laws of the country of origin and be registered in the bottling registers, national and international. All Extra Virgin Olive Oils from any country in the world will be accepted. Each oil sample submitted to the contest must come from a lot sold or prepared to be sold during the current year. The organization may request the documents that certify said commercialization. Which must meet the following requirements: A. Chemical analysis of free fatty acids with no more than 180 days old. B. To be considered virgin olive oil, the level of free fatty acids should not be higher than 0.8% with a peroxide value of less than 20%. All samples: • Must come from a homogeneous batch (minimum volume 500 liters). • 4 (four) bottles or other containers of 0.50 / 0.75 liters / or 5 (five) bottles of 0.250 liters (the total amount may not be less than 2.00 liters), labeled, hermetically sealed and with the proper identification of the lot, as they are commercialized. • Samples must be registered in the competent health agency of their country of origin, according to the current legislation. • All bottles or containers must have a valid identification label or comply with all laws of their country of origin. The possible derogations of the present article 2, only for the volume of the homogeneous batch required, can be authorized, by a valid request, only by the Technical Director of the tasting. CINVE is an International Virgin Olive Oil Contest organized by InsocFerial, S.L., with the following objectives: Organizad by:
• To award prizes to the best virgin olive oils in the world. • To promote the nutritional benefits of Virgin Olive Oil directly to consumers. • To highlight the exceptional qualities of Virgin Olive Oil produced in different countries. • To promote olive oil in the national and international markets. • To highlight the virtues of the Mediterranean diet. • To communicate the awards obtained to potential importers and the media, in national and international markets. • To increase and encourage international consumption of olive oil. Article 3.- Objectives. The main objectives of the tasting are: 1. To reward the best Extra Virgin Olive Oils, presented to the contest and coming from all over the world. 2. Promote the healthy and nutritional aspects of the Extra Virgin Olive Oils and the Mediterranean Diet. 3. Encourage production and reasonable consumption, also contributing to the dissemination of the olive cultivation culture. 4. To promote the international market highlighting the exceptional qualities of the Extra Virgin Olive Oils produced by the different countries. 5. Contribute to the increase of consumption of Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oils, internationally. Article 4.- Registration. The registration for each sample will be completed by the mill or company name, through an authorized person, on the official website of CINVE: www.cinvegroup.com. • Direct link: http://www.cinvegroup.com/formularios/inscripcioacuten-concursante-samples-- samples-participant-registration_oleo2018.php The registration will contain the following information: 1. Data of the company name: a. VAT (CIF) b. Postal address c. Phone d. E-mail and website, and e. Data of the responsible person 2. Product characteristics: a. Country of origin b. Brand c. Indication of your Denomination of Origin membership or other specifications d. Variety of olives or dominant varieties with which the oil has been made e. Vintage f. Stock g. Target price h. Category The representative of said corporate name or mill is responsible for the statements contained in the registration and compliance with the present rules. Organizad by:
Article 5.- Rates and Payment Conditions. The official tasting rates are: o € 140, for the 1st and 2nd sample o € 125, for the 3rd and following samples Payment can be made through: 1. Credit card, upon registration. 3. PAYPAL (previously requesting the PAYPAL invoice) Participation must be paid upon registration. If the registration fee is not received on time, the sample will not participate in the tasting. Article 6.- Shipping. You must send 4 (four) bottles or other containers of 0.50 / 0.75 liters / or 5 (five) bottles of 0.250 liters (the total amount cannot be less than 2.00 liters). All participants must send their samples before March 29, 2019. For outside the European Union: • A proforma invoice must be sent detailing the number of bottles by type, net weight content and total weight by type. • Mention "SAMPLES WITHOUT COMMERCIAL VALUE - International Tasting of Virgin Olive Oils-CINVE", to avoid customs charges. • The samples will be sent with the expenses of transportation, home delivery and customs formalities, when necessary, duly paid. • The tasting will not be responsible for removing from the customs services, the samples that have not paid all their costs when arriving in Spain. • All freight, taxes of any kind and transfers must be borne by the sender. • The Organization of the tasting will not pay any additional charge that generates the sending of samples. • The samples sent to the tasting are the property of the companies that register them until the tasting sessions. • After the tasting sessions, they will become the property of CINVE. • Samples that, due to being late, your registration is not correct or the product with the registration does not correspond, will not be picked up and will not be returned. • Registration requests and samples that arrive after the deadline will not be reimbursed or paid. Article 7.- Control of samples. InsocFerial, through the persons it designates, will control the system of reception and registration of the samples, provided in Article 4. After the inscription, each bottle of the sample will be covered so that the label and the capsule are hidden, and will be identified with a random number, which will accompany the sample throughout the process, including the tasting, until the proclamation of prizes. Ensuring the anonymity of each sample, always. The organization will store the samples in a safe place under suitable temperature and humidity conditions that guarantee their adequate conservation. Article 8.- Classification. Samples will be classified according to the list of CATEGORIES, which is available on the official website of CINVE: www.cinvegroup.com. • Direct link: http://cinvegroup.com/categories--categories1.html Article 9.- Appointment of the jury. The evaluation of the samples will be done by a jury whose number of commissions will depend on the samples submitted to the contest. Said jury will be appointed at the proposal of the Technical Direction and approved by the CINVE management and will be composed of highly qualified tasters with well-known experience in national and international competitions and will comply with the regulations on international juries. The jury will be formed into tables of five components, with the following distribution: three international juries as a minimum and two nationals maximum, the presidency will be held by an expert in sensory and / or organoleptic analysis, of recognized experience. At each table three members will be experts in sensory and / or organoleptic analysis. The jury's work meetings will be held between April 1, 2 and 3, 2019. Article 10.- Technical Direction. The Technical Direction of the Tasting will have the functions of technical control of the Tasting and the appointment of the members of the Jury and, María Isabel Mijares and García Pelayo Vice- president and Technical Supervisor of CINVE. Article 11.- Tasting sessions. • InsocFerial, in collaboration with the University and under the Direction and Technical Supervision, will guarantee that the tasting sessions are carried out with the absolute anonymity of the samples. • The tasting tables will be in a well-ventilated room, well-lit and quiet. • The temperature will remain between 18 ° C and 22 ° C. • Smoking is not allowed. • An adjoining room, outside the view of the jurors, is reserved for the preparation of the samples and maintenance of anonymity. • The service of the oils is done in the tasting room, in front of the juries. • Tasting sessions are preferably conducted in the mornings. • In each session a maximum of 50 samples per tasting table will be tasted. • Each sample is tasted individually and is not compared. • After the sensory analysis, the tasters will indicate the score given in the corresponding boxes of the tasting sheet and if necessary their observations. • The President of each Jury will send the data of each jury to the technicians of the university, who will process them electronically. • The computer program will establish the final score of each sample, by the arithmetic mean, corrected for deviations, of the valid scores of the different tasters that make up each tasting table. • The oils will be valued over 100 points, using the approved tasting sheets approved by the IOC, whose format is attached. Article 12.- Awards. Diplomas of Gold and Silver Medals will be awarded to oils that achieve the following scores: 1. Gold Medal from 90 to 100 points 2. Silver Medal from 85 to 89 points The total number of prizes will be less than 30% of the number of samples presented. The Grand Prix CINVE'2019 and Mentions Gran Oro will be awarded by unanimous decision of the tasting jury. Article 13.- Force majeure and possible modifications. Tasting will not be held in cases of force majeure (epidemic, fire, flood, catastrophe, strike, terrorist act, etc.), or any event beyond its control or considered justified by its seriousness. Likewise, the tasting reserves the right to cancel the competition, to change the scheduled date of the event, to shorten or lengthen it. You will not have responsibility in such cases and, no compensation can be requested by the participants. CINVE is not responsible for any theft, loss, damage or delay in the delivery of the samples. Article 14.- General rules. The companies that register their samples will be informed of the awards obtained, once the qualifying tastings have been made. The results of the tasting are final and unappealable. The samples of participating products can, after the tastings, be used for promotional and / or training events. They will not be returned to the producer or distributor. The same applies if the event is canceled in accordance with the circumstances established in article 13 of these Regulations. Organizad by:
