Direct Entry Graduate Programme (DEG) The Direct Entry Graduate Programme is a two-year (or three years for Finance) programme that combines structured placements in technical or support functions with focused training. This programme will give you the chance to enjoy a great future at Airbus. From the beginning of the programme, you will be assigned to a particular function or „target area‟ and will be guided through the various placement opportunities that exist within your function, the wider business and sometimes with customers and suppliers. The programme is UK-based, but the placements you choose may give you the chance to work at other Airbus sites in Europe or with customers and suppliers globally. This practical experience is complemented by a number of valuable training programmes covering the following topics: behavioural development and personal effectiveness, business awareness and technical understanding and cultural awareness. You will also be given a senior level career mentor who will offer guidance and support during your career progression, as well as a “buddy” DEG from the previous year‟s intake to provide extra support. Our graduates are encouraged and supported to achieve chartership status. Dramatic graphics will envelope the building as the Airbus Concept Plane appears to take to the skies and fly in formation above Berlin, highlighting the benefits of smarter aircraft, smarter technology, and smarter skies in 2050. In stunning schematics, the Smarter Skies light show will illustrate the benefits of smarter aircraft operations that could cut travel time, reduce emissions and ease delays. The light show will be beamed onto the Humboldt Box at 15 minute intervals from 8:45pm – 10:45pm on Saturday 8th September. The Humboldt Box is in the centre of Berlin on Museum Island.
Six exciting days lay behind the Recruitment and Employment Marketing Team which organised the HR presence at ILA in Berlin. They welcomed more than 120 participants to six Airbus workshops and organized the programme for the two student groups from Bécarios Masters and TU Delft. The workshops included company and career presentations, interactive sessions with the participants and introductions into the fields of Composite, Supply Chain and Innovation. Furthermore, the team organised workshops for our apprenticeship and internship opportunities. Our diversity workshop “Are women the better managers?” included an interesting discussion with two female managers and Dr. Thomas Ehm, Senior Vice President Human Resources Airbus Germany. Two student groups, Bécarios Masters and TU Delft, were invited as well. They received a warm welcome by Dr. Thomas Ehm and Charles Champion, Head of Engineering, and got the unique opportunity to visit the A380 from Emirates. But not only the workshops and student visits were interesting. Airbus‟ recruiters were involved in pre-scheduled and spontaneous interviews and career discussions with the visitors. Beside the Airbus events, several workshops from EADS and the other divisions took place. For example, the EADS university dialogue with 15 professors from 11 German key universities had been organized for the first day at the ILA. Those who were present on Friday had the opportunity to watch the WOW event organized by our EADS colleagues: Sky diving and Body-Flying. Some of the visitors even got the opportunity to do Body-Flying by themselves or to visit the A320 Flight Truck, a flight simulator organized by Airbus. We are now looking forward to the next Airshow in Le Bourget on 17th to 23rd June 2013. We will inform you about the programme in the upcoming newsletters.
