Welcome from the International Netball Festival Inc It is a pleasure to welcome you to the International Netball Festival Fiji 2017 We have been bringing this fabulous Netball Festival annually to Fiji since 2015 and the Gold Coast Australia since 2011. It is with sincere thanks and excitement that we continue to welcome teams from overseas, nationally and locally to play in these competitive and fun tournaments. Congratulations on your participation in 2017’s INF Fiji and good luck! Play well, learn more, bond with your team and make new friends! Let the Games Begin We are a community based, not for profit organisation and are pleased to welcome all local teams as well as the international teams to the International Netball Festival. A big thank you to all the coaches and team managers in organising your team’s participation and others that assisted in this extraordinary Festival. Over the next few days, our expert team will provide a Festival of high level netball, event recreational activities, team bonding, friendships and more. With three competition days, participants will experience a sporting holiday and an experience of a lifetime. Let the games begin The International Netball Festival Team www.internationalnetballfestival.com An environment-friendly organisation Spirit of the Game Play by the rules, play fair and "in the spirit of the game of Netball". Contesting the ball is fine. Rough play will be penalised. Positive support from spectators welcome. The spirit of the game dictates that players make sure they give others on court, often opponents, a fair chance. We encourage Festival players to be good sports and applaud good plays, for your team and the opposition. If we have umpires then we have games—no umpire, no game. Umpires are to be respected. Positive feedback only on the courts. If there are no umpires, there are no games. Spectators and players, please remember that our umpires are human beings and may miss from time to time. They will do their best. If the umpires are hassled verbally, their umpiring deteriorates. Please try and boost their confidence. Umpires’ calls are final. We hope that this will encourage everyone to play in the true spirit of the game. 5
Competition Rules Registration A player must be registered and paid for, to play in the 2017 International Netball Festival Fiji BEFORE TAKING THE COURT. It will be posted on the INF Facebook Page and website each evening. Stoppages Blood Policy Play shall cease immediately when blood is noticed. The player must leave the court immediately and may be replaced. The injured player may return to the court at the next centre pass if the blood flow has ceased, the wound cleaned and covered. Competition Points Three (3) points for a win, two (2) points for a draw and one (1) point for a loss. Tie in Competition Points If there is a tie with competition points at the end of competition, the team’s placing in the ladder will be determined by the following, in this order: 1. The result of the game between the 2 teams – if that was a draw then, 2. A count back of goal difference - Goals For vs Goals Against. The team with the biggest goal difference will qualify ahead in the ladder – if this was equal then, 3. Fair play points as awarded by the umpires – if this is equal then, 4. A toss of the coin by the Tournament Director with the 2 team captains. (The team who has travelled furthest to the Festival will call the toss) Draw at the End of a Final The teams are allowed a 1 minute drinks break at the full time whistle. NO players can be changed. There will be three (3) minutes extra time each way. No break. If it is still a draw then it will be first team to reach a two (2) goal lead. NO change of players, no breaks.
