ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM IN APPLIED CRITICAL ARCHAEOLOGY AND HERITAGE – ACRA Second cycle degree Master in Archaeology and Cultures of the Ancient World Class of second cycle degree LM-2 The second cycle degree/Master program in Archaeology and Cultures of the Ancient World is a 2-year (120 ECTS credits) free access degree program with assessment of personal competencies and skills. It offers two curricula: Archaeology and Cultures of the Ancient World (in Italian), and Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage (in English). The International Curriculum in Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage - ACRA is entirely taught in English and offers specific courses and services of welcoming and support to students enrolled. Non-EU applicants shall also comply with terms and procedures to enroll in Italian universities by contacting Italian embassies/consulates in the country of origin. Applicants to the curriculum in Global Cultures can benefit from study grants and tuition fee waiver Unibo Action 1 and Unibo Action 2 The study grants and the tuition fee waivers are assigned on the basis of GRE, for one academic year Applications deadline: March 31, 2021 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND ASSESSMENT INTAKES Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage is a master’s degree taught entirely in English. Students are required to possess a minimum standard of B2 (CEFR or equivalent). Prospective students are expected to be familiar with instruments, languages, and modes of research in the humanities. They must also possess a critical view and insight into the past, and to be aware of the dynamic nature of historiography and academic discourse under the larger frameworks of time and culture. Students familiar with comparative methods, spatial, chronological and thematic approaches toward historiographical research are encouraged to apply. Students must also have the ability to communicate orally and have strong English writing skills. a) To be eligible for admission, applicants must: • a good humanistic culture, which allows to historically contextualize the notions and data that will be obtained from the study and research in the specifically archaeological field. • a basic knowledge of the archaeological method and its application in some specific territorial and chronological context. 3) have achieved at least 5 ECTS in one or more of the following subject areas (only for applicants with an Italian degree): • Storia antica e medievale L-ANT/02 - Storia greca L-ANT/03 - Storia romana L-OR/01 - Storia del Vicino Oriente antico M-STO/01- Storia medievale M-STO/09 - Paleografia 4) have achieved at least 5 ECTS in one or more of the following subject areas (only for applicants with an Italian degree) • Lingue e letterature antiche e medievali L-FIL-LET/01 - Civiltà egee L-FIL-LET/02 - Lingua e letteratura greca L-FIL/LET/04 - Lingua e letteratura latina L-FIL-LET/05 - Filologia classica L-FIL-LET/06 - Letteratura cristiana antica L-FIL-LET/07 - Civiltà bizantina LFIL- LET/08 - Letteratura latina medievale e umanistica If applicants do not meet or partially meet the above-mentioned requirements, the Admission Committee might nevertheless take into consideration their application and invite them to the interview. b) Assessment intakes The Admission Committee evaluates applications and verifies if applicants meet expected personal competencies and skills. Applicants meet expected personal competencies and skills if they obtained a Bachelor degree with at least a score of 80/110 (or equivalent). Nevertheless, applicants need to take the interview to demonstrate their language proficiency at the B2 level (CEFR or equivalent). Evaluation will be based on: • dossier: o previous studies (grades and courses attended); o detailed CV; o certificate of English language proficiency (at least B2 level CEFR or equivalent) if held. • interview: will be held in English and will assess competences and skills, including language proficiency. It will last between 15-20 minutes and, if necessary, will be conducted via Skype or Zoom. Applicants need to provide a cover letter (stating their interests and personal and professional goals – max 500 words). Admission or rejection will be based on evaluation of the applicant’s dossier and interview Online application opens on February 1, 2021 for the first intake. Register by filling in the form (if you are a student resident abroad and you do not already have an Italian Tax ID (codice fiscale), you can click on “Registrazione Studenti Internazionali” / “International students registration” and follow the instructions to create your personal User ID and Password). 3. After your first access, you will be asked to change your password. Please, remember your user ID and Password, as they will always be required to access your personal profile. 4. 6. Select the program “GLOBAL CULTURES (GLOC) – International Curriculum, Admission process” (all intake sessions are listed, but you can only select the intake open at the moment of your access). 7. Upload all required documents in PDF format: • Documents required to complete your application o Copy of your valid identity card (EU citizens) or passport (non-EU citizens); o Copy of your 1st cycle /Bachelor degree (with Diploma Supplement or transcript of records/list of passed exams) – translated into English or Italian if another language; (if you have not yet graduated, please upload your current transcript of records. Please, specify your expected graduation date). o Your CV (curriculum vitae et studiorum) in English; (if you wish to take the interview via Skype, please indicate your Skype ID in your CV); o Short statement of purpose (in English, max. 500 words); • Optional supporting documents to complete the application o If available: a copy of your Certificate of English proficiency level o If applicable: a copy of Italian stay permit / “permesso di soggiorno” Please remember 1. ACRA annual tuition fee AY 2021/2022 For the AY 2021/22 annual tuition fee is up to € 2550,00 + € 157,04 for both EU and non-EU candidates.
