“It has always been an unbearable thought to me that someone could inspect one of my products and find it inferior in any way. For that reason, I have constantly tried to deliver only products which withstand the closest scrutiny –products which prove themselves superior in every respect.” Robert Bosch, 1861–1942 2 C/CCB, C/CCD | 04/10/18 © Robert Bosch GmbH 2018. Mobility Solutions Strategic far-sightedness requires staying power – ESP® In 1982, Bosch came up with the idea of counteracting Example ESP® skidding in cars by applying brake pressure to individual wheels. To this end, Bosch developed the key component in the sensor that measures the vehicle's rotation around its vertical axis – in other words, whether the vehicle is about to skid. In 1995, Bosch ESP® went into series production. In 1998, a micromechanical yaw rate sensor was introduced to make the life-saving ESP® system an affordable option for everyone. Since 2011, ESP® is mandatory for all new car models in Europe and for all newly registered cars in the U.S. Bosch ESP® – 16 years of far-sightedness, 16 years of staying power 10 C/CCB, C/CCD | 04/10/18 © Robert Bosch GmbH 2018.
