1. Invitation to ESB 2021 Dear colleagues, dear friends! One of the key aspects of the ESB Conferences is that experts in basic biomaterials science, biomaterials development and processing, and clinicians are brought together to discuss the most up-to-date developments in this field and promote the translation of biomaterials from bench to the bedside. Consequently, the Industrial Exhibition has been a cornerstone of our Conferences, as attendees and Biomedical Companies are brought together in one place. We are especially interested in hosting: • Biomaterials suppliers • Newest instruments for all kinds of (bio)material characterisation and processing • Biomedical companies that bring to the market biomaterial-based products • Research Institutes • Biomaterials journals Therefore, it is our aim to offer you the best conditions to present your products and services, and to communicate with the attendees of the Conference. Companies and organizations are cordially invited to present their services and products at the ESB 2021 Conference. The exhibition will take place from Sunday till Thursday in the Alfândega Congress Centre, close to some of the session rooms and the poster exhibition area. We encourage you to register early to avoid disappointment. Poster sessions and coffee breaks of the Conference will be located in the same area to encourage interaction between the industrial exhibition and the Conference participants. 2. Topics The motto for the Conference will be “Future with Biomaterials”, as a challenge to our community to explore biomaterials in conjunction with advanced technologies, such as Nanotechnology, Biofabrication, Microfluidics and Bioimaging to develop the clinical combination products and functionalities of the future. Other topics of the Conference include but are not limited to: • Additive manufacturing (including Biofabrication and 4D (bio)printing) • Biomaterials characterization • Biomaterials development (including smart biomaterials) • Biomaterials for specific medical applications • Biomaterials for tissue engineering • Cell-biomaterial interactions (including mechanosensing) • Clinical applications of biomaterials (including precision medicine) • Commercialisation of biomaterials and biomaterial-based devices • Key enabling technologies (including lab-on-a-chip, robotics and artificial intelligence) • Legal, ethical and regulatory aspects • Nanobiomaterials • Surface modifications • Tissue and organ models (including organoids and organ-on-a-chip) • Virus-biomaterial interactions (including new corona virus) The final programme will be published in July 2021. 3. Conference Venue Located in the historic centre of Porto on the banks of the Douro River, proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, the Alfândega do Porto Congress Centre is a historic building, restored by the famous Portuguese architect, and Pritzker Prize winner in 2011, Souto Moura. Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport, or Porto Airport in short, is a very well connected international airport with daily flights to the major European cities and a few intercontinental direct connections. Therefore, getting to Porto is generally at most a two hops flight. The airport is located approximately 10 km north of Porto City Centre (Link to Google Maps). 5. About Portugal and Porto Porto is located on the north-west coast of Portugal along the Douro river estuary. The 900-year old city of Porto, which won the title of best European destination in 2017 (as well as in 2012 and 2014), is among the oldest European centres. Portugal is an economy that is primarily shaped by the service market. The share of industry in the Portuguese economy today is less than 20 percent. The heart of the economy in Portugal beats in the agglomerations of Porto and Lisbon. Around every third Portuguese lives here. Porto in particular is the business location per excellence in Portugal. Spain is the most important trading partner for the Portuguese, followed by Germany. In general, the EU plays an important role in the export of Portuguese products. How to get there Porto is a major infrastructural hub of north Portugal, located 300 km North of Lisbon, in a favourable geographical position in terms of access to the main European capitals. …by air The International Airport of Porto “Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport” is located 15 km from the city centre and is well connected to downtown Porto by good public transport network (subway, bus, taxi). It serves about 60 destinations operating with the main regular airlines, offering both business class and low-cost flights such as Luxair, TAP Portugal, Ryanair, Air Berlin, Air Transat and Aigle Azur. These airline companies establish connections between Porto and several national and international destinations, such as Lisbon, Faro, Madeira, Azores, Brussels, Toronto, Montreal, Milan, Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt, Bordeaux and London. There are two main train stations: • Estação de São Bento (São Bento Train Station) which is located in central Porto, in Praça Almeida Garrett. This is the terminal of regional trains which operate between Porto and other northern destinations such as Braga and Régua. • Estação de Campanhã (Campanhã Train Station) is the terminal operating between Porto and the south of the country (including Lisbon). Travelling to Lisbon by train takes about 3 hours. Campanhã Train Station is also establishing international railway connections. …by road Porto is favourably connected via numerous motorways, making it easily accessible from all parts of the country and abroad. The motorways A1 links Porto to Lisbon, A4 provides the connection to Trás-os-Montes, whereas A3 reaches all the way to Minho. Braga, Aveiro, Viana do Castelo are also linked via excellent motorway connection to Porto. For detailed travel information by coach, please have a look at: www.internorte.pt and www.eurolines.com - both operate international routes to and from Portugal. There are regular coach services between Portugal’s main towns and cities. For details of routes, timetables and fares visit www.rede-expressos.pt the website of “Rede Nacional de Expressos”. Accommodation The increase of visitor numbers to Porto is growing much quicker than the slow increase in the actual number of beds. This means that the best hotels and rental rooms sell out fast, leaving budget and last-minute visitors forced to look further from the historic centre. We strongly recommend you book your accommodation as early as possible. We would recommend looking for an accommodation within the districts of Ribeira, Vitória, Sé, Baixa or St. Ildefonso because this area is very close to all of the main sights of the city and the Conference venue. We will publish an HRS booking link at the Conference website you can use for booking your hotel rooms at favourable rates. 6. Sponsorship, Support and Advertisement Industry support is one of the key elements in the success of ESB Conferences. On the following pages, various exhibition and sponsorship options are listed, from which you may select different elements up to the amount of your company’s financial contribution. Thus, please review all exhibition and sponsorship opportunities and combine those options that best suit to your marketing needs. If you plan to present your own shows during the Conference, a timely agreement with the organizer is required. Please note: As the location of service provision is located in Portugal, VAT must be paid. All stated prices for exhibition and sponsorship do not include the Portuguese VAT rate of 23% which will be charged upon booking. 6.1. Industrial exhibition Companies and organizations are cordially invited to present their services and products at the ESB 2021 Conference. The exhibition will take place from Sunday until Thursday, probably at West Ground Floor. We encourage you to register early to avoid disappointment. Poster sessions and coffee breaks of the Conference are located in the same area to encourage interaction between industrial exhibition and Conference participants. The purpose of the exhibition programme is to present products and/or services relevant to the participant’s professional interests. The exhibitors should emphasize instruments, products or services for use in teaching and research, books and other publications in scientific fields of relevance to the interests of the participants. Preliminary Floor plan Session talks are planned on ground level as well as second level. The spacious exhibition area will be located either at West Ground Floor or at Archive Hall (will be decided in June 2021) and will also host the coffee break area as well as part of the poster presentations. In order to increase exhibition visits, the Welcome Reception on Monday evening will take place in the exhibition (if permitted) and extended Conference breaks and poster viewing slots will be scheduled there as well. Thus, a constant frequentation at the booths will be guaranteed to maximize networking opportunities. 8

Companies who only book exhibition space will not be listed as sponsor. How to order: Exhibition space can be booked via the enclosed application form. It can be sent by email to info@esb2021.org. Applications for space must be received by June 30, 2021 to be listed in the exhibition publication. K.I.T. Group GmbH Dresden reserves the right to short-term changes. Exhibitor Technical Manual: A detailed manual including all relevant information for exhibitors such as technical aspects for exhibiting, final schedule and deadlines, as well as additional order possibilities will be provided in the beginning of 2021. Liabilities/Terms and conditions: Space assignment will be made on a first come, first served basis. Wherever possible, space will be allotted according to the exhibitor’s choice, but the final arrangement will be determined by K.I.T. Group GmbH Dresden in such a way as to produce the most advantageous grouping of the exhibition. There is no claim for a special exhibition space. There is no guarantee to any specific stand area within the exhibition area. The exhibitor covers all other costs and risks in relation to the building and the construction and the support of the company’s stand and has to make an insurance policy against civil liability and damages. The total costs of the exhibit space must be paid before installation; otherwise you are not allowed to install the booth. Storage, Set-up and dismantling: Because of the limited storage space we cannot guarantee to fulfil all requirements concerning the storage. Please note: The deadline for all sponsorship applications is June 30, 2021. Priority for assignment of sponsorship items and exhibition space is given (pending sponsorship category) within the given deadline. Afterwards, priority can only be granted upon availability. If two sponsors with the same level apply for the same sponsorship item, priority will be given on a “first come-first served”-basis. Packages only come with exhibition space and are not complete furniture booths (no back wall, no side walls). We recommend ordering booth building. Additional booth systems and extra’s like carpet and furniture can be booked separately at a later point with the service manual. 10
6.3. Other sponsorship opportunities All industry partners who decide to book one of the below-mentioned sponsorship items, will benefit from acknowledgement as sponsor on the Conference website, in the Final Programme and on the onsite postings. If the total sponsorship support reaches the amount of: EUR 15 000 + VAT The company will be granted GOLD status EUR 10 000 + VAT The company will be granted SILVER status EUR 5 000 + VAT The company will be granted BRONZE status Applications for sponsoring must be received by June 30, 2021. Sponsoring options can be booked via the enclosed application form. It can be sent by email to info@esb2021.org or by fax to +351 65573-299. Lunch symposium EUR 5 000 + VAT (not exclusive) Companies can organize their own symposium to showcase new technologies or products to a large number of delegates who regularly attend the industry sponsored sessions. In order to attract even more participants, the sponsor may also provide snacks and drinks during the session at additional costs. Every company interested in organizing a symposium can apply for a maximum of 1 symposium in the Conference programme, which will take place within the general framework of the Conference, embedded in the official programme (45 minutes during lunch breaks). Please note: Time slots for symposia are limited, preference is given to companies which have booked a sponsorship package. The sponsor will obtain: • Costs for the meeting room and its technical equipment (microphone, data projector, screen, laser pointer) included • Further expenses - e. g. costs for speakers, including registration fees and catering - need to be covered by the sponsor • Topic, speaker and date of the symposium need to be approved by the scientific committee • Programme of the symposia will be included in the Conference programme booklet • Sponsor can place 1 advertisement for the symposium on-site (e.g. flyer, Conference bag insert) Conference wifi EUR 5 000 + VAT (exclusive sponsor) Conference delegates will be using wifi throughout the ESB 2021. As the wifi sponsor, delegates will see your logo whenever they log into the conference wifi network. The sponsor will obtain: • Wifi login information cards with sponsor logo on them handed to each delegate upon check in at the conference registration desk or the sponsor stand • Acknowledgement in the final programme and on the Conference official website • Complimentary exhibition booth space, max. 6 m2 Smart Poster/E-Poster Terminals price on request The e-posters will be among the most frequented points at the Conference. It combines all scientific e-posters in just one device, thus providing visitors with several additional features. The sponsoring includes the display of the company logo/banner on each e-poster terminal. Roll-ups (supplied by the company) may be displayed next to the e-poster terminals on the corresponding day. The sponsor will obtain: • Display of sponsor’s name and logo on each e-poster terminal • Display of roll-up in e-poster area (roll-up to be provided by the sponsor) • Acknowledgement in the final programme and on the Conference official website Your Logo on USB Memory Stick (provided by organizer) EUR 3 000 + VAT (Exclusive sponsor) USB Pen Drives 8 GB contain the abstracts of the ESB 2021 Conference. Pocket programme in the Conference bags EUR 3 000 + VAT (Exclusive sponsor) The pocket programme with programme overview will be inserted into the Conference bags. The sponsor will obtain: • Company logo on the cover of the pocket programme together with ESB 2021 logo Coffee break or lunch break (each) price on request You have the opportunity to sponsor the coffee breaks or lunch breaks. The sponsor will obtain: • Company logo beside the Conference logo on the catering tables • Roll-ups (supplied by the company) may be displayed in the catering area on the day of sponsorship • Acknowledgement in the final programme and on the Conference official website Opening Reception price on request On Sunday, September 5, 2021, a Welcome Reception for all participants in the exhibition area is planned (if permitted). Interested companies have the opportunity to sponsor this event. It offers a perfect networking opportunity. Get in touch with new clients and/or further deepen your existing business relationships! Print Advertising in final programme* As the main information source for delegates before, during and after the Conference, the final programme is the perfect sponsorship item. It will be available online shortly before the Conference starts and will be distributed on-site to every fully registered delegate, containing among others the complete time schedule, programme, author index, as well as full information concerning exhibitors, sponsors, committees and awards. Company: …………………………………………………………… EXHIBITION & SPONSORSHIP REGISTRATION FORM – Page 3/3 ESB 2021 – General Terms and Conditions By submitting the exhibitor/sponsor application form, the industry partner accepts these General Terms and Conditions. The contract is legally binding upon signature of both parties. The permission to exhibit at the mentioned Conference is granted through this contract and the corresponding invoice. The industry partner has to pay the total amount due to the Conference account within 14 days after having received the invoice, at the latest. If the payment has not been realised in due time, the organizer has the right to reverse the permission and to distribute the requested exhibition space to another industry partner. Only after having received the payment in full, the booking will be officially accepted and the exhibition area will be considered bindingly reserved. A cancellation of the permission can also be made if the exhibits of the industry partner are not in accordance with the Conference. In case of cancellation by the industry partner, NO REFUND will be given, neither for booked exhibition space nor for any other ordered furniture/exhibition items or for booked sponsoring items. Should the congress must be cancelled by the organiser due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the agreement is invalid and all paid amounts will be refunded. If the conference does not take place as a face-to-face event but will be converted into an online conference, we will provide you with adequate proposals for virtual participation. An own company stand may only be assembled after a full booth construction plan has been submitted in due time to the organizer and is confirmed by both the Conference venue and the Conference organization. The industry partner accepts the safety regulations from the local authorities (police), the fire brigade, the Technical Inspection Agency and similar organisations at the Conference site. Aisles, emergency exits, emergency lighting and fire extinguishing equipment may not be blocked or screened in any way at any time. It is prohibited to hang stand constructions from the roof of the exhibition area, to drive nails or other fastenings in the walls or in rented stand walls, to bore or to pass own cables. Any additional furniture has to be approved and confirmed in written by the organizer. Furthermore, the organizer has to be informed about additional requirements in sufficiently advanced time. The industry partner is requested to deal carefully with the rented booth and furniture, and to hand it back afterwards in due time in proper condition. Concerning the distribution of product samples, refreshments, food or any other items given to delegates on-site, the industry partner has to ask for a written confirmation of the organizer and the Conference venue. The assembling and dismantling of the booth have to be realized during the determined dates and times. In case of non-compliance, the organizer reserves the right to charge, possibly resulting in extra costs to the industry partner’s account. The booth has to be occupied all times during the official exhibition opening hours. The exhibition costs do not include insurances of any kind. The industry partner takes the full liability for all damages caused by him or the staff. The organizer does not take any responsibility or liability for damages or losses at the booths or of the exhibits. All industry partners are advised to arrange appropriate insurances on their own. The General Terms and Conditions of the Conference centre (venue) as well as of all service partners apply additionally. Place of performance and court of jurisdiction is Germany. The German Law applies. All exhibition and sponsorship costs are collected from the Conference Organization K.I.T. Group GmbH Dresden and are subject to Portuguese VAT rate of 23%. By signing and handing in this form, the placed order is considered to be binding and the General Terms and Conditions of the Conference are accepted. After receiving of the invoice, I will transfer the due amount within 14 days.
