Münster is only a few kilometers away from the Netherlands and is an agriculturally oriented region with mostly small industries. Farming, particularly horse farms, dominate the area around Münster. New demands of a more and more complex society made it Fourth largest necessary to create a new profile for places of training. University of Applied Sciences in Germany The result was the formation of a unique type of university: the Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences). From an amalgamation of publicly and privately owned schools of higher education in engineering and other praxis-oriented institutions, the University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1971. University Sports This institution offers around 120 types of sports, sports tours, training courses, tournaments and international sports competitions. 90 supervisors and 400 trainers "exercise" around 20,000 participants every week.
