Textiles Online Learning Year 10 Design and Technology Recycled Paper Design Task Transforming a very practical course like Textiles, in which the Year 7 students usually make a patchwork cushion with a sewing machine, has certainly been a challenge. The team has put their heads together and come up with a few challenges for our current Year 7 students to complete using items they have at home. Recycling and repurposing items of clothing that are no longer wanted is also very good for the environment. Did you know that Australians are the Kiarn Dark Maisie Keirl second largest consumers of textiles in the world and we now send more than 85% of the textiles we buy each year to landfill? Learning the dangers of ‘Fast Fashion’ and introducing the Year 7’s to recycling their unwanted garments has been a positive outcome of learning online.
