Colorful Diode Lasers - Engineered for Maximum Performance The iBeam smart family is the ultimate choice The iBeam smart series offers unique TOPTICA’s pigtailed diode laser line, iBeam when looking for a high-performance, ultra- features that set a new benchmark in the smart PT, is the gold standard for long-term reliable OEM diode laser system. competitive field of compact laser sources. power stability and reliability in the market. High speed complete on/off modulation Enabled by TOPTICA’s proprietary fiber Featuring wavelengths from the UV to the (with a true zero-photon off state) from a coupling technology COOLDC (Constant IR the iBeam smart laser series serves a compact single box unit, widely exceeds Optical Output Level – DuraCalibrated) in variety of demanding markets: the performance of any acousto-optical combination with the LongLife fiber. These • Microscopy modulation technique. Integration into unique optical fibers prevent the commonly • Flow Cytometry optical setups is easy with the Feedback known problem of fiber degradation at • Precision Semicon Metrology Induced Noise Eraser (FINE) function of violet and UV wavelengths. • Computer to Plate Printing the iBeam smart series. FINE makes these • Laser Direct Writing lasers insensitive to optical back reflections With highest output levels, exceptional • Microlithography and guarantees a low noise operation power stability and high speed modulation, • Retina Scanning even in the case of fiber coupling. Another instruments like confocal microscopes, • Digital Photo Finishing highlight of the iBeam smart series the high content screening systems or flow • Disc Mastering SKILL (“Speckle KILLer”) speckle reduction cytometers greatly benefit of these • Inspection feature, which minimizes and stabilizes the compact and reliable diode laser modules. • Microplate Readout coherence length of the laser at the push of a button. If you are unable to find the perfect solution In all these fields our numerous customers to your application within these pages, are looking for a compact and reliable laser The integrated µ-controller completes this please do not hesitate to talk to us about source that exceeds the performance of a attractive package and ensures easy deep a customized solution. As a developer standard diode laser module. The success integration into any working environment. and manufacturer of high quality lasers in story of the iBeam smart family is based Germany, we will be happy to modify the on excellence in all aspects of a modern parameters according to your needs. diode laser: high power levels, low noise operation and ultra-stable beam pointing with a wide wavelength coverage. 3
Unique Features Complete on/off The advanced electronics of the iBeam smart allow a “complete off” modulation up to 100 MHz. This feature is especially interesting for applications requiring a true “zero photon” dark state, such as advanced microscopy techniques, or simply the desire to increase the signal-to-noise ratio in measurement setups. • True “zero photon” off state up to 100 MHz modulation • Outstanding rise and fall times with “complete off” • User configurable Fastest pulses with iBeam smart pulse option Adjustable analog modulation up to 1 MHz Digital modulation Analog modulation The digital modulation option adds a 250 MHz, true asynchronous All iBeam smart models incorporate an analog modulation input, TTL trigger input. The included Autopulse feature enables the laser to enabling modulation up to 1 MHz. operate on self generated pulses up to 10 MHz. • Requires no extra hardware (no AOM / AOTF) • 250 MHz digital modulation speed • User configurable (high-/low-active) • Multi level triggering • Mixed mode triggering (analog and digital modulation • Excellent rise and fall times (
FINE Optical setups are prone to back-reflections of laser light into the laser source. These back reflections into diode lasers can cause power instabilities and high noise levels. All lasers in the iBeam smart family contain the FINE (Feedback Induced Noise Eraser) feature, which eliminates this problem. A simple push of a button makes these lasers ultra-stable even under optical feedback. Customers save time and costs, by making re-alignment and optical isolators unnecessary. • Elimination of feedback induced power instabilities • Intensity noise reduction • Purely electronic feature - no additional hardware such as optical isolators necessary • Push of a button functionality Laser power with optical feedback induced COOLDC The COOL technology (Constant Optical Output Level) is TOPTICA´s unique solution for high power single-mode hands-off permanently fiber coupled lasers. Aligning and focusing a laser beam into single-mode fibers (down to core diameters of 2.5 µm) with highest efficiency is utmost challenging. TOPTICA´s patent pending COOL fiber coupling concept is new, because it does not use any mechanical micro adjustable parts, which normally are the first to move due to thermal or mechanical influences. • DuraCalibrated solution for compact OEM diode lasers (integrated in the iBeam smart PT) • Factory set to permanent fiber coupling efficiency of higher than 50% • Unsusceptible to thermal fluctuations • Unsusceptible to extensive mechanical disturbances • Drop shipment warranty: laser immediately in spec after unpacking COOLDC technology SKILL The SKILL function acts as a purely electronic „Speckle KILLer“. By decreasing the longitudinal coherence lengths of the emitted light, the speckle generating mutual interference of wavefronts is reduced. Thus annoying speckle noise on detectors and imaging systems can be lowered to a minimum. • Reduces speckle patterns • Reduces coherence length • Purely electronic feature - no additional hardware necessary • Integrated in all iBeam smart diode lasers • most effective at lower laser power iBeam smart without (left) and with SKILL, activated (right) 5
