L. Walker Governor’s School senior,
Jacob Lee, created a virtual event for
us. Dog owners submitted pictures of
their dog for a chance to win costume
prizes, or a video to win best pet trick.
The entries were amazing! The Friends
of Forest Hill Park Junior group judged
the precious pups. Prizes were donated
by CritterTown BathHouse, Canine
Adventure and FFHP. The event was
free to all, but all donations will be split
between Friends of Forest Hill Park
and Ring Dog Rescue. We were glad to
keep some form of this annual tradition
in place, and hope to be live in the park
for 2021!

And the winners were:

• Best Costume Overall: Mosby as
  Oscar the Grouch “scram 2020”
• Cutest Pup: Wally as the Pope
• Toughest dudes (in lieu of scariest):
tie to Mongo as Mongo Flavor Flav

• Prettiest Pup: Eleanor as

• Judge’s Choice: Bradley as

FRIENDS OF FOREST HILL PARK JUNIOR
Do you have a middle school or high school student who loves Forest Hill
Park? Friends of Forest Hill Park Junior might be the volunteer group for
them! The group holds monthly clean up events, helps monitor the blue
bird trail during the season, and participates in other events and activities
to benefit the park and its use. COVID has thrown us off a bit in 2020,
but we are resuming some modified socially distanced out door service
opportunities. We will be looking for parents to help take one or two monthly
shifts a year supervising the group beginning in the spring of 2021. Go

appy Holidays! I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy at this time. This year has been tough for
everyone. Our communities have suffered at different degrees due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,
the harms of systemic racism, and our volatile political climate. Although our country seems very divided, we have
been humbly reminded of how desperately we depend on each other regardless of political affiliations, social classifications,
or status. I hope that this time is one of joy and peace for you as we prepare for a new year. I am incredibly honored to
serve another term as your Councilperson and excited about my opportunity to help create a better Richmond for all.
