Downtown Versatile Location with a lot of Graduate Students ABOUT DOWNTOWN Living Downtown or on Central Campus allows you to easily walk to the shops, restaurants and entertainment on Main St, Liberty St and State St. It can sometimes get noisy at night and finding parking can be challenging but it's also super convenient for commuting purposes as a student. If you couldn't guess by the name, this is the campus hub so you'll experience a true college-town feel here. Parking can be tricky, but isn't an alleyway right next to us for a restaurant. It's clean impossible. and usually safe, and no one lingers there, but just something to know. Old Fourth Ward Farmers' Markets and Walk-Able Streets ABOUT OLD FOURTH WARD Old Fourth Ward was one of the first residential areas in Ann Arbor. While keeping its old-town feel, the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood is now also a modern spot that many students call home. Old Fourth Ward is near downtown without all the noise. Coupling this with the quaint farmers markets and walk- ability of the area, it's easy to see why this is a popular neighborhood. SoHill Diverse Housing Options, Quick Commute to Campus ABOUT SOHILL This area offers a quick walk to class, a diverse selection of housing options, and a vibrant social scene. UMich Med students here often live in houses and smaller apartment buildings. Rent can get fairly expensive in this area, but students often earn back some costs by renting out their parking spots. The management is very, very responsive and gets things done quickly. They are also very friendly and does a great job overall. When I had kitchen sink leak on Thanksgiving, someone arrived in about 2 hours to fix it. Laundry is in the complex or complex Excellent location next-door depending on your unit. Parking is generally easy to find - though transition times (e.g. August) can be a bit crowded. Reasonably-priced There is a small mini-gym with a treadmill and some weights. A bus stop is right outside of the apartment which is great for some rotations clinical year (some are too early for that) and for all of 1st year. It's also walking distance, about 12 minutes. Very close to the grad school library (less than 5 minutes walk) Great common spaces and lots of food, convenience stores, and coffee shops. Great location for lots of study options. There's parking available, but Convenient location at extra cost. An outdoor lot about 5 minute walk and a parking garage right next door. Management is also super helpful. I’m probably a 25 minute walk from the med school/Taubman, but there are great bus routes (when it’s not COVID) that can get me there in 10 mins or I usually will just bike.
