HOLY FAMILY REGIONAL SCHOOL JESUS CHRIST IS THE REASON FOR OUR SCHOOL Friday, February 17, 2023 Issue 23 Dear Parents, As we celebrate the gift of family this month, it provides us the opportunity to talk about how love is the most important gift a family can share with one another. Let your children know that it is the same in God’s family. In Matthew’s gospel we learn how Jesus taught his disciples how to love others beyond those who are closest to them. Jesus tells them to love even their enemies. As members of God’s family, we are called to do the same thing. As a family, discuss some concrete ways you can “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”. Remind your children that Jesus does not expect us to be perfect. Jesus knows that we are human and will not always do everything correctly. Jesus wants us to love others as if they were Jesus himself. If we reach out in love to others, we are doing exactly what Jesus did. That is what perfection looks like! This Week’s Happenings: • On Monday, I shared the Strategic Plan during the State of the School Address. I have included the plan in this newsletter and have also sent home a hard copy of the plan with our students in grades Y5-5. The plan is comprehensive and addresses many of the items that surfaced from our input sessions and parent survey. The meeting was recorded and can be viewed by clicking on the links below. I am looking forward to all that is planned for the future of our school. State of the School - Part I State of the School - Part II • During the upcoming week, I encourage you to complete the re-enrollment process for the 2023-2024 school year. Many of our families have now completed their registra- tion for next year. The last day for re-enrollment is Wednesday, March 1. We will begin screening our new students in March and filling open seats, so please make sure that you complete the registration for next year as soon as possible. • Special thanks to all who participated in the Benefit Evening last weekend. The event was a huge success. Special thanks to the Benefit Evening Committee who made it such as success. • The School Calendar for next year is complete and is posted in this newsletter. • We are seeking members for the School Advisory Council (SAC) for next year. Please see information about these positions in this newsletter as well. Let us continue to pray for the children of our school, that they be drawn to Christ, and know that they are children of God, and are loved. Wishing you many blessings, Mr. Jon Myers Principal

Send us a photo on Ash Wednesday We will miss being together on Ash Wednesday and would like to post photos on social media of our staff and students with ashes on their forehead. Please send your photo to pho- tos@holyfam.org. Any photo sent needs to be Actual Size. Thank you! 2023-2024 Tuition Assistance Application The Tuition Assistance Application for the 23-24 school year is now available on the school website (holyfam.org) under Admissions tab on the home screen. Make sure to read the Tuition Assistance Information memo to understand the process and Eligibility requirements. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2023. This deadline will not be extended and no second round. A special apology is extended to the Ventimiglia family of Shelby Pediatric Associates, who was the Valet Sponsor of our Benefit Evening. Their flyer was intended to be placed in every valet car. However, due to an overwhelming number of cars being valeted that evening, the flyer only made it into some of them. Please view the Shelby Pediatric Associates advertisement that follows.
Page Eight HFRS School Advisory Council (SAC) Thank you for your interest in becoming an SAC Member. The following Member Interest Form will allow us to learn more about you and why you are interested in becoming an SAC Member. The infor- mation will be used by the Nomination Committee to review and select members to meet with the Selection Committee. Depending on the level of interest, all parents interested in being an SAC member may not meet with the Selection Committee. However, we have changed the SAC structure to create Committees for you to participate in regardless of whether you are an SAC member or not. We hope you will also con- sider becoming a member of one or more of the committees. Sign up geniuses will be posted in the future to join these committees. There are 5 areas of the SAC: Mission & Catholic Identity, Academic Excellence, Operational Vital- ity, Governance & Leadership and Finance Council. In each of these areas, SAC members will engage with HFRS Staff to ensure that the strategic goals in the area are being worked on and will be accomplished. The SAC member will also help promote their committees, find parents to join the committees and help com- municate with the staff member(s) and/or the SAC the goals/results of the committee. While some of the goals will be accomplished by staff and others by parents on committees, we hope that this structure will allow staff and parents to work on goals for HFRS and together create a stronger school community. The attached chart shows the staff currently identified under each area, the committees falling under each area and the number of SAC members. In addition to the 5 areas of the SAC, we are looking for SAC members to be the contact person for parents at North Campus and South Campus. While the HFRS staff is always open to discussions with par- ents on topics relevant to their children and the school, we know some parents would prefer to talk with a parent leader first. We are asking that SAC members who are active in the school community be that point of contact. Additionally, we are looking for parents who may be willing to lead the SAC as the Chair (key responsibility is setting the agenda for SAC meetings), the Vice Chair (stepping in if the Chair is unavailable) and Secretary (taking the meeting minutes of the SAC and publishing them to the school community). Last- ly, as parish representatives have been eliminated on the SAC, we are looking to continue strong communi- cations and relationships with the pastors of our supporting schools. Hence, if you would be interested in partnering with your parish pastor to communicate between the school and the parish, we would be interest- ed in knowing that. The SAC currently anticipates meeting once a month from August – June. In addition, you can ex- pect to have periodic area meetings with staff and associated committees. Looking at our strategic plan, we know that some areas of experience that would benefit HFRS and the SAC are knowledge in social and emotional health, technology infrastructure, facility management, con- struction, and fundraising. While it is not essential that you have this experience, we are interested in (1) learning what experience you do have and (2) why you are interested in joining the SAC. Please share with us any relevant experience that you believe we should know and why it is that you are interested in becom- ing an SAC member. We appreciate your time and thank you for your interest in HFRS’s School Advisory Council.
