Mayflower and Flying Scotsman head a special train across Newbiggin Viaduct in May 1976. We will be re-uniting them in 2019. WELCOME Welcome to our 2019 Holidays by Steam brochure which begins with some big news – for the first time in four years The Cathedrals Explorer will be returning to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and this time it is planned to take Flying Scotsman not just to Edinburgh but through the Highlands to Inverness and back – a first for this famous locomotive since it came back on the mainline. This very special holiday offers options covering the highways and byways of Northern and Western Scotland as well as the option to spend two days on the magical island of Skye. Our 2019 programme is completed with the Angel of the North departing from London where we will be travelling through and picking up across East Anglia as we head north to visit a part of Britain that has both lots of history and is also a centre for modern culture. After a two year break we also return to Ireland but this time for a shorter holiday of 5 nights on The Emerald Isle Craic Express to Killarney and Galway as we explore the South and West of Ireland and in particular the world famous Wild Atlantic Way. Finally, we have further details of our proposed holidays in the USA and New Zealand which are now scheduled for The Great Lakes Explorer in October 2020 and the Kiwi Explorer in October 2021.
