BEN FOX Ben is another young midfielder to have made his way to Date of Birth: 01/02/98 the first team from Burton Albion’s Academy.After spending Height: 180cm five years coming through the ranks, Ben earned his first Signed: 01/07/16 professional deal in the summer of 2016 and, after some Country: England very encouraging performances in pre-season, was rewarded with a first team debut against Liverpool in the League Cup as a substitute. Ben joined Conference North side Tamworth on loan for most of the 2016-17 season to help aid his development at first team level and further productive spells last season with Solihull Moors and Gateshead in the National League readied him for a more prominent role in Albion’s first team squad for the 2018-19 campaign. He scored his first league goal for the club in a 1- CM 0 win at home to Bristol Rovers that season. FOREWORD Welcome to Burton Albion Community Trusts Activity Pack. We hope this booklet finds you safe and well and provides opportunity for you and your family to stay home, have fun and keep active during this unprecedented period we are all going through. In this booklet you will find home work-outs to keep you physically active, activities to keep you mentally active and fun challenges to take part in. As well as this booklet we would like to invite you to join our Extra Time Hub Facebook Group (search Extra Time Hub – BACT on Facebook) and Burton Albion Community Trust pages. During social isolation we will be posting regular fitness activities, messages and live videos and further updates about the sessions. It will also enable you to connect with our wonderful participants who are also navigating their way through this period. RECIPE SAUCY SAUSAGE PASTA Ingredients 1 tbsp olive oil packet of 8 pork sausages (the best your budget will allow), cut into chunky pieces 1 large onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, crushed1 tsp chilli powder 400g can chopped tomatoes 300g short pasta such as fusilli or farfalle (just over half a 500g bag) 1) Put a large pan of water on to boil. 2) Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large frying pan and fry chunky pieces of 8 pork sausages on a fairly high heat until they are golden brown all over. 3) Now turn the heat down and add 1 large chopped onion and 2 crushed garlic cloves, cooking them until they have softened. 4) Stir in 1 tsp chilli powder and 400g chopped tomatoes with the sausages, bring the sauce to the boil then turn the heat down and let it bubble for about 10 minutes while you cook the pasta. 5) Drop 300g pasta into the pan of boiling water and cook according to the pack instructions. 6) Drain the pasta, then tip it into the frying pan with the sausage sauce, mixing well to coat. Dish up immediately with crusty bread
HOME WORKOUT Rocket Jumps For rocket jumps, stand with your feet hip-width apart, legs bent and hands on your thighs. Jump up, driving your hands straight above your head and extending your entire body. Land softly, re-position your feet and repeat. For more of a challenge, start in a lower squat position and hold a weight or a bottle of water in both hands at the centre of your chest. Tap Backs To start tap backs, step your right leg back and swing both arms forward, then repeat with the opposite leg in a continuous rhythmic movement. Look forward and keep your hips and shoulders facing forward. Don't let your front knee extend over your toes as you step back.For more of a challenge, switch legs by jumping (also known as spotty dog), remembering to keep the knees soft as you land. Your back heel needs to be off the floor at all times.
