View this email in your browser February 15, 2021 Issue 559 HIGHLIGHTS Updated euthanasia guidelines approved by AAEP board The AAEP’s euthanasia guidelines have been updated by the Welfare & Public Policy Advisory Council and approved by the board. Chief revisions include the addition of the administration of lidocaine hydrochloride 2% (intrathecal) with the horse in a surgical plane of general anesthesia as a technique deemed acceptable when performed by trained personnel. Read The Guidelines New virtual learning series begins Feb. 24 The AAEP’s new Virtual Wednesday Round Tables will debut on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. ET with the topic, “Negotiating Employment Contracts in Equine Practice.” The new series will feature one clinical topic and one non- clinical topic each month, with discussion led by practitioners with expertise on
