Updated euthanasia guidelines approved by AAEP board
The AAEP’s euthanasia guidelines have been updated by the Welfare & Public
Policy Advisory Council and approved by the board. Chief revisions include the
addition of the administration of lidocaine hydrochloride 2% (intrathecal) with
the horse in a surgical plane of general anesthesia as a technique deemed
acceptable when performed by trained personnel.

New virtual learning series begins Feb. 24
The AAEP’s new Virtual Wednesday Round Tables will debut on Wednesday,
Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. ET with the topic, “Negotiating Employment Contracts in
Equine Practice.” The new series will feature one clinical topic and one non-
clinical topic each month, with discussion led by practitioners with expertise on
the subject matter. CE hours are not offered. Click the button to register for the

Next Member Meet Up on Zoom: Fostering Emotional Health in Equine
Practice
Equine veterinarians experience stress in and out of the workplace, and this
can take a toll on emotional wellness and mental health. Join conversation
leaders Dr. Stacey Cordivano, Dr. Liz Fish, Dr. Amy Grice and Dr. Jesse Tyma
on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET for a supportive discussion about honoring
