WWW.FARN-CT.AC.UK | 01252 405555 25 NIC I STUDIED: LEVEL 7 POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HR MANAGEMENT/ HE DEVELOPMENT I’M NOW: WORKING IN HR FOR DXC.TECHNOLOGY The HR course at Farnborough Technology helped me to prioritise: in HR you’re pulled from pillar to post on a daily basis so working full time and doing the diploma really impacted how I am today – I’m more focussed, and straight to the point. I did find balancing work and study initially difficult, as there was no one around to cover my workload whilst I was at college, but my company supported me and allowed me to have the afternoon off once a week for me to attend classes. The tutors were all great: because of the break between University and this course, I wondered how much I could review and ask questions but the tutors were on hand for anything I needed to ask. “ The course showed me what I wanted to go into from a work perspective and the avenues I ” was keen to explore. For example, I was really interested in one of the legal modules, but I wouldn’t have explored it previously. It showed me how I could expand, develop and push myself. It was a great experience, and I was promoted from an administration role to the HR Service Delivery Partner role whilst I was still studying. That was so encouraging as all my hard work began to pay off, and I got to see what I was studying happen within the workplace.
