Hamilton Southeastern High School 2020-2021 Financial Aid Scholarship Guide 1
INTRODUCTION The 2020-2021 Scholarship and Financial Aid Guide has been set up by the Guidance Department to assist HSEHS parents and students in their search for scholarships and/or financial aid. Students and parents should use Naviance to access the most up to date scholarship information. This booklet does not list all of the scholarships available. Throughout this scholarship guide, you will find references to websites. The Internet has become a vital part of scholarship/financial aid searches. If you do not have access to the Internet at home and would like to look up something for yourself, please let the Guidance department know and we will set up a time for you to use one of our computers. Our goal is to make the process easier and more efficient for you. Please do not hesitate to contact the counseling office for assistance during the school year. The Guidance Department phone number is 317-594-4193. SCHOLARSHIP SEARCHES Scholarships can be based on student GPA, SAT/ACT score, community involvement, and future field of study, and financial need. The “stronger” the resume, the more scholarships you will be eligible for. Keep in mind that the scholarship search is extremely competitive at all levels. The best advice we can give is to apply for everything and anything for which you may be eligible. You should put in the time and effort needed to make a superior application. This will give you the competitive edge you need. Always contact the colleges/universities you will be applying to and ask what scholarships are available. Typically, smaller private colleges will offer more scholarships and financial aid to offset their higher tuition rates. Always be aware of what is available through Hamilton Southeastern, check our website, the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation website (HSSF), Naviance and this scholarship guide. Finally, make sure you check out www.fastweb.com Fastweb has a database of over 1.3 million different scholarships offered by thousands of different institutions and organizations worldwide worth over 3 billion dollars. After entering your resume into the Fastweb database, you will receive a list of scholarships for which you are eligible to apply. This is one of the best search engines on the market. 2
Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) Download FAFSA from www.fafsa.ed.gov or by calling 800-433-3243. Make sure you complete this as soon as possible after October 1.
