WHAT IT TAKES 06 Need to Know Important updates for 2023 applicants. Test Score Consideration GO.NCSU.EDU/TEST-SCORE-CONSIDERATION NC State will be test-optional for 2023 and 2024 spring and fall first-year applicants. On the application students will have the option to indicate whether or not they would like test scores to be considered in their application review. If they indicate yes, they will be required to self-report SAT or ACT scores to complete their application. If they indicate no, test scores will not be required and any scores we may already have on record will not be displayed to application reviewers. If students elect to self-report test scores on their application, official SAT (Code # 5496) or ACT (Code # 3164) test scores must be submitted directly from the testing agency once they confirm their enrollment to NC State. Students’ consideration for admission, merit scholarships or the University Honors Program will not be negatively impacted if they opt not to submit test scores.
