Egg Drop Challenge Yaverland class worked really well in teams to create ingenious designs to stop an egg from breaking after falling from a great height. They followed the design process and discussed how to cut, join and strengthen materials. The whole class was very proud that every egg landed safely without cracking. Well done Yaverland class' St Helens Class designed and tested their own Mars Rover to drop. We watched clips and talked about what was needed to protect the robot 'egg'. The challenge was to protect the egg inside from the impact of being dropped from a height. The children enjoyed the countdown to launch and they're starting to use some scientific language to explain their ideas. You can view the video on the class website page. Compton Class were in groups to design and make their egg packages. They then dropped them from height to see if their egg survived. www.bartonprimaryschool.co.uk
Egg Drop Challenge Alum Bay Class created their egg package models in teams and then with the help of Mr Givens and Mr Orchard, they were dropped from a height to see if they would survive. The children made their own Easter nests. Freshwater Class have produced some amazing final pieces (using Oil pastel) for their interpretation of The Yellow Christ picture by Paul Gauguin. Year 5 and 6 have been looking at Line graphs this week. They enjoyed collecting data on how the length of a shadow changes over the course of the day and then plotted their results on a line graph. We were also able to talk about why shadows get longer and shorter. www.bartonprimaryschool.co.uk
