Get started on the road trip of a lifetime! Hit the road and travel to some of Australia’s most beautiful and remote places with the Variety family! The Variety Bash is a 10-day trip taking 30+ year old vehicles and their crews on the ultimate road trip. When you join us, you’ll also become a hero to Aussie kids, by raising funds to give a fair go to kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have a disability. We here at Variety love to travel around our spectacular country, all in the name of giving ALL kids a fair go! Join us from 31 August – 9 September 2020 on the Variety Bash, as we travel from historical Winton to Birdsville for the legendary races, and finish the ultimate road trip in Barossa, one of the world’s great wine regions. The Variety Bash is about mateship, wacky costumes, fun stops and seeing everything our wonderful country has to offer. You will travel many dirt roads through tiny towns with old friends and meet new ones along the way. Expect more than a little bit of skulduggery! Throughout the Variety Bash, you’ll visit local towns and schools to meet just some of the kids you’re helping. You’ll be fully supported by our experienced team all the way. Meet Aussie Rock Aussie Rock has been an annual fixture on the Variety Bash since 2011 and is a favourite theme among Bashers, with their signature Aussie Rock playlists blasting from their 1978 Ford Fairlane with over 4,000 watts of amps and speakers. They’re also a great team to chat to about fundraising, having raised an incredible $345,000 for Variety during this time. In addition to securing corporate sponsors, they put on some amazing community events both involving and raising money for local kids. From dance parties at schools, to a dinner dance with authentic Italian fare, Aussie Rock knows how to have fun and put smiles on kids’ faces. “We do it to help other kids and enjoy meeting the families of the kids we help,” says Sue Whittam, crew member of Aussie Rock. 2020 VARIETY BASH HANDBOOK 3

Meet Baxter
By taking part in the Variety Bash you’ll be raising
much needed funds to help Aussie kids who are
sick, disadvantaged or have a disability. Kids just
like Baxter.
Baxter received a ‘gravity chair’ and ‘splashy
bath seat’ when the 2018 Variety Bash visited
Blackwater. Baxter has cerebral palsy, hearing
and vision impairments and epilepsy.
The gravity chair allows Baxter to sit and watch
TV, join in at the dinner table and interact with
his family instead of having to lay on the floor.
The splashy bath seat not only makes bath time
easier, but also allows Baxter to join his sister
and other kids at the pool or beach.
