Great Canadian Gaming* Operations Update April 19, 2021 *Great Canadian Gaming is the parent company of Elements Casino Brantford
Introductory Context • Great Canadian operates 26 casinos in Ontario, BC, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick; all properties were closed on March 16, 2020 to support efforts to contain COVID-19. • Elements Casino Brantford is one of the company’s 26 properties, and pre- pandemic, employed 664 Ontarians. • To support the safe reopening of the company’s casinos, Great Canadian developed comprehensive and rigorous health and safety protocols that meet or exceed the standards developed by any retail or hospitality sector. • Prior to implementation, these protocols were vetted by our regulators, a third- party medical expert, and underwent an independent risk assessment. • Since late September 2020, Great Canadian’s casinos in Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick have gone through a series of reopenings and closures, subject to health authority direction in each jurisdiction. • Ontario casinos were limited to a 50-guest capacity. • Nova Scotia and New Brunswick casinos operate at a percentage of previous occupancy. • B.C. casinos have yet to reopen.
Provincial Economic Impact From COVID-19 The past year had a devastating impact on Great Canadian’s Ontario operations and people: • $1.2 billion of revenue contributed to the Province prior to COVID fell to $0. • 6,215 Ontarians employed in our casinos in above average paying jobs prior to the pandemic fell to 197 employees. • $65.5 million in community host payments made by OLG annually for our municipalities prior to the pandemic fell to negligible levels. • $87.9 million in goods and services purchased annually from 863 Ontario-based businesses prior to the pandemic fell to under $34 million. Guest Feedback • Guest feedback was collected through a voluntary survey (completed by email and QR codes) measuring the effectiveness and performance of Great Canadian’s reopening health and safety protocols. • 6,117 surveys were completed by our guests who have visited our locations since reopening and with the new health and safety measures adopted.
