The colour and style of these items is dependent on your qualification and awarding institution. The online order service provides the opportunity to see exactly what you will be wearing once you have provided the relevant details. Tempest Photography Tempest Photography are the official photographers for all Regent's University London Graduation Ceremonies. Tempest Photography will have four studios set up at the University where you will have the opportunity to have professional photographs taken before or after your Graduation Ceremony. If you would like to have photographs taken in the professional studios, to avoid disappointment you should arrive early, leaving enough time to robe and register. No appointment required. Before the Ceremony On arrival, you must register at the registration desks located in Tuke Common Room at Regent’s University London. Upon registering, you will be given your name card which will have your seat number. Please note, you cannot change your seat number and you must keep your name card with you at all times as you will need to hand it to the staff member reading the names out on the stage. After registration, you will be directed to gown and will then be expected to make your way down to St. Marylebone Parish Church. Order of Ceremony • Entry Procession • The Ceremony will be called to order by the Chancellor of the University • Welcome to the Graduation Ceremony by the Vice Chancellor of the University • Welcome by the Pro Vice Chancellor and your Faculty Dean • Honorary Senior Fellow • Presentation of Honorary Senior Fellow • Presentation of Graduands • Presentation of Academic Achievement Prizes • Speeches by Graduating Student & Alumni • Close of Ceremony by the Chancellor of the University, Conferment of the Awards • Exit Procession You and your guests must be seated at least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Once the Ceremony has commenced, guests will not be able to enter the main hall and will be directed to additional seating with the possibility of a limited view, so please ensure you arrive early. If you are not in the hall by the start of your Ceremony, you risk missing it completely. Ceremonies are expected to last approximately an hour and a half. The Ceremonies are opened by the entrance of the Procession for which the assembly is required to stand. The Chancellor will declare the Ceremony open and there will be some brief speeches before the graduates are presented. Therefore, you must sit in your allocated seats. The Chancellor will declare the Ceremony closed, after which the assembly will be asked to stand again for the exit of the Procession. Cameras and video cameras are permitted inside the venue. However, please do not disturb our professional photographers/videographers. After the Ceremony After your Ceremony, you will be led out row by row after the Procession has left and will be directed back to Regent's University London for a group photograph and a light Reception on Tuke Lawns, please note that the Reception is not a sit down meal. 12
St Marylebone Parish Church Where will I sit? Graduands will receive their seat number upon registration in Tuke Common Room, Regent’s University London. Graduands will need to keep their name/number slip until they are called up to the stage. Guests will be permitted to sit anywhere in the Church apart from the graduate seating and the reserved seating. Members of staff will be on hand at the Ceremony venue to ensure graduates are seated in their correct seat What will I do during the Ceremony? Graduands will be called upon row by row to walk up to the front where a member of the Student Registry will pass your name slip to the reader at the lectern. Please remain in the order you were seated. • You will be directed to walk up to the left hand side of the stage where you will be met by a member of the Student Registry. • You will need to hand your name card to the member of the staff which will be passed on to the Head of Programme to read out your name. • When your name is called, you must walk towards the Chancellor to shake hands, then to the Faculty Dean to shake hands and receive an unofficial scroll. • You will then need to turn to your left to take a photograph by Tempest Photography. • After your photograph has been taken with the Faculty Dean, you must walk down the center aisle back to your seat. Members of the Student Registry will be on hand to direct students back to their seats. 13
Criteria for the Academic Achievement Awards As well as recognising each graduate’s achievement in completing their degree, we also recognise the academic achievement awards listed below. Prize winners will be awarded with a personalised engraved crystal award at the ceremony.
